V1 Car Runs Without Fuel Pump Relay

disassembling the donor and I removed the fuel pump relay and fuse but the car continues to run? Ideas why?

Safe to remove the fuel line anyway?

Got it to die by removing the fuel cap. Odd...

Gas tank air pressure was supplying the fuel to the engine? Need to vent the gas tank?

Sounds like the tank vent - in the fuel filler tube - may be plugged? Did the fuel filler cap 'blow' pressure when you remove it to add fuel - if you had the chance to drive the car for any distance?

There wasn't any pressure released when I took the gas cap off.

I've owned the car since December when I bought it from auction. Hasn't been driven more than a mile or so home from when it was unloaded off the truck because the semi wouldn't fit into my neighborhood.
