This is something I did to make it easier to make sure my steering wheel is on correctly and locked. With over 40 years of racing I have seen drivers have steering wheels come off in their hands because it was not latched.
Put your hub on the steering shaft so that one of the bolts is at 12 o clock when the wheel is on straight. Then take that bolt and paint it a diffrent color. I painted my black the rest are chrome. This way all you do is line up the 12 o clock on the wheel with the bolt. and it should just snap into place. Now you are not trying to get it in the right place. simple. and a lot less chance of having a hand full of no steering.
I have included of picture of mine.
