Hey guys. I've started looking for a Cobalt Sedan to compliment my Silverado as a winter/gas mileage daily. It just makes sense, I know the things like the back of my hand now. I'm specifically looking for any year 2.4L or an 09-10 2.2L manual transmission sedan (so its compatible with what's in my Goblin lol). I have alerts on AutoTrader, Cars, CarGurus, and AutoList, but I haven't had much luck finding something. I am looking for something from the south that is rust free because everything up here in Michigan is rusty Swiss-cheese. If any of you run across one that isn't on those sites in your searching for a donor, please let me know. Location doesn't matter, I'll have it shipped. I'd be happy to pay a finders fee.

Here's someone with a gold plated Cobalt SS SC out here in the Phoenix area, if you were looking for a laugh! :p

Thank you, but I guess I should have mentioned I don't have Facebook. Looks like all but one is automatic too. The manual does look nice enough though

I’m not a spec expert but I haven’t noticed many 2.4 sedans and I’ve mostly found 2.4 coupe /automatics. Oddly in 09 my Dad and Mom bought a 2.2 manual sedan, it was the “super gas sipper model”, XML?PDQ?(I forget) something like that. It had “special fuel economy everything” including tires that rode like stone and cost like platinum. Lost it in a very slow, roll over accident getting off on the shoulder in a blizzard in 2012. Parents fine, car total loss.

ADD: model is XFE! 2.2 only. 09/10?

So look for that XLM#¥ZPDQ!?$ model. I believe they were all manuals and MPG above 30. I had forgotten Dad even had that car until now! Silver with gray interior, Dad was ok with silver but wished for red interior!! Great Mileage though!

Yeah, my goblin's donor is an XFE. The XFE's do come in auto's too though AFAIK.

Boy am I getting annoyed at all these dealers though. About 80% of the cars posted as "manual transmission" are actually auto's when you lookup the VIN.

I know you mentioned you dont do FB. Are you looking for cobalt only or would a G5 fit the bill as well?

G5 would be fine too, as long as its a sedan.

I did some additional research. Found this thread: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-2...h-45/how-l61-le5-conversion-lots-pics-279173/
Apparently I can convert an 08 L61 into an LE5/LAP with a few circuits added for the VVT and whatnot. Seems pretty simple. So I guess that adds 08 2.2's to the list of cars I could get.

Bought one! Its on its way here now. Almost identical to my original donor
Get some spiffy wheels! Gussy it up a bit! I know it's manual; 2.2 or 2.4? My Mom and Dad had a XFE(2.2/man) but it took a bullet for them. They were happy with it, drove it from VA to AZ several times, a real gas sipper. Hope I can drive mine soon! Happy Trails!:cool:

I have a set of white(painted) 4 lug alloys I'd give you, if you stop by? It's hard to believe there wasn't a desirable mileage boost from alloys? I know the XFE used a low special hi MPG/ECO tire, Dad claimed they were $$ and loud. He sprang for Alloys and Michelin's, he claimed that it was worth it.
