V1 Transaxle Cover Gasket Leaking

I think my temporary transmission (non-LSD) is leaking from the front transaxle cover (driver's most side). Looking for this gasket it's discontinued, so curious if the same sealant that I put my oil pan in with would be sufficient?

Form-A-Gasket would probably be just fine. The transmission operating temperature is not very high and it doesn't use brake fluid - ask me how I know not to use Form-A-Gasket with brake fluid. The only item of concern may be the bearing clearances that mate with the races in the end housing. The gasket thickness may be taken into account for these dimensions? Maybe?

I would lean more toward getting gasket material and making your own but since this is temporary might not be worth it.

I would normally just leave it since this transmission is only in for a little bit, but it's coming out quickly. Dale E PM'd me the exact same idea so that's going to be the scheme. Thanks for the great idea @Gtstorey and @Dale E.

Ok, got into this over the weekend and I may not need to make a gasket. It seems the bolts on the bottom, where the leak was occurring, were less than 10 ft-lbs tight. I snugged them all up to about 25 ft-lbs since I couldn't find a specification on how tight they need to be. Hopefully this is the easy fix to my temporary problem. I got to 25 ft-lbs by going up 5 ft-lbs each pass to 25.

Yeah, a gasket that is not compressed enough usually leaks. 6mm bolt going into aluminum is prolly able to take about 40ft/lbs where it or the case threads yield. ~25 ft/lbs should be plenty! ***I see a little bit of destructive testing in my near future; all I need is a junk pile and a torque wrench.:)
