V2 Vmoland's V2 Goblin (#1) - 2019 GTI Mk 7.5

Hello Goblin family. I am so excited for the V2 Goblin! We have been enjoying my husband's V1 (#135) since 2019 and when DF announced the V2, we decided to build me one. We bought my doner in early 2024 and just let it sit under a tarp in the corner of the backyard. We then brought it in and stripped it (well...he stripped it) and have just been waiting for the kit.

Well..the wait is over! My frame was delivered last weekend. It didn't come with everything so we are still waiting for more parts. We are the guinea pigs. As we put the car together, we will keep in touch with DF to let them know what is not working, what might be missing, what might need to be changed, etc. Apparently VW changed some things in the 2019 GTI and my transmission mounts differently than the one Lonny has been using to design with. So mine has been taken back to the design shop so Lonny can redesign some things. Glad we can help him get things figured out now rather than later.

For now, we have the floor panels installed and will wait for more parts to show up.

We have done a little more work in the last week. A few days ago we installed grip tape in both Goblins. This weekend we worked on getting the seats placed in mine. Got the sliders mounted and temporarily installed in the frame. V2 is apparently a little wider than V1, so we were able to get the widest seats Corbeau makes. They do touch but it doesn't interfere with their ability to be moved forward and back. Now we get to remove them and put them back in the box until time for permanent install.

Those are the FX1 Pro seats, size Large?

I'll jump in for this one.... I'm Tim, the husband, lol. The seat we have are corbeau 29501WPR. Depending on what sight you look that up on, some say"wide", some say large.

Got some more work done on the car. Last weekend we installed the brake master cylinder and the brake lines. Today we installed the proportioning valve and attached the brakes lines to it. Then we put in the fuel tank (still waiting on a strap to hold it in place) and made sure the new coolant tank would fit.

Next weekend the plan is to clean and install the power steering rack and get some pieces powder coated so they are ready for install when the time comes.

When the hubby says "its your car you have to build it" he really means it. This weekend I had to powder coat the seat brackets he made for my car and the wing mounts and custom grill for his. Luckily we have a friend that used to own a powder coat business and he still has the equipment that he let us use. My parts aren't perfect but I think they look pretty good for never powder coating anything before.
Besides powder coating my seat brackets, we also installed the steering rack. That was the last thing we could do. Now we wait for more parts.
