So my wife and kids are leaving tomorrow morning to central California. My in laws live in Sanger, outside Fresno. They'll be gone for about 3 weeks. The first week when there gone I normally clean up the house wash the cars and watch really loud movies. 2nd week is kinda relax and just eat the week old pizza out of the fridge. 3rd week I'll be going stir crazy, and might just drive the goblin to Sanger California. It's a 600 mile one way trip, about 9 hours if I stop for gas and soda. I'm wondering if in this heat, if I drive through the night if that's a doable trip. Sounds kinda silly now that I'm typing it, but I wanted to throw it out to the forum. How far have you taken your DF on a road trip? I've done 2hr one way 2hrs back in a day, but never 1200 possibly in a long weekend. Let me know what you think

Interesting. A goblin rally (I've been to 3) is the longest I have drove my goblin. They tend to be 4 or 5 hours of driving each day, for 2 or 2.5 days.
I will wind/sun burn after 1 day, so I have to bring a motorcycle helmet & long sleeve shirt to hide from the sun. I have drove my motorcycle for 10 hours in a day... which is probably pretty close to a goblin ride of the same length. The goblins that have cruise control are easier to drive on highways. Goblin rallies tend to be curvy roads, slower speeds, more fun driving.

Let me know if you go! Sounds like a fun trip/challenge. Hope the weather cooperates.

Thanks for the heads up on the protective clothing. I had a black cloth top made for my df a year or so ago. It's been a life saver! Keeps the sun of my head. My df has cruise so this would be a great time to set it and go. Still working out the details in my head. Thanks for the suggestions

Be ready for some heat. Supposed to hit over 110 next weekend, staying above 100 for the forseeable future. I live about 40 miles south of Fresno/Sanger

Anthony, I think heat - even at night - in an open vehicle will be the worst thing about such a long trip. We know how brutal the sun and 110 plus days can be. Doing that for a 9-10 hour stretch (twice) would really take a toll on the enjoyment factor.
I don't want to discourage you from making the trip, but just make sure your expectations are in line with the reality of desert driving in the summer. ;):)

The goal would to get off the 10 as quick as possible. I'm thinking about going around joshua tree national park, into barstow, Bakersfield into Fresno and sanger

I have gone about 4 hours with the Houston group. Not even close to what you are talking about, though.

Give us a good write-up of the trip afterwards, please.

These guys seem to have the longest trip that I know of. Crazy stuff.......
