V1 Where does the other end of this cable connect?

I thought the other end of this cable connected to the starter, but experience and advice have taught me different. It is hanging loose in the area of the starter. What does it connect to?

you should have a cable from the battery, cable from your alternator, and cable from the fuse box all on the large starter post (the one without the braided cable). The one with the braided cable shouldn't have anything attached to it.

Alright I’m confused. I don’t remember disconnecting any cables from my starter during the disassembly process. I have the really long positive cable, but thought I disconnected that from the fuse box post (honestly don’t remember exactly where from). I have a short cable coming off the starter that’s loose, I’m assuming that’s the one that goes to the fuse box positive post.

In fact, I’m positive (heh) I didn’t disconnect anything from the starter during disassembly because all of the road crud is still on the posts and bolts of the starter like there hasn’t been a socket on it in forever.

Looking at alldatadiy, for the SC model at least, there’s only 2 cables on the starter, one for the alternator, and one they say “battery cable” but I believe that to be the short cable that goes up to the fuse block post. I think some models run the battery positive to the post and then the small cable from the post to the starter.

Here the fuse block diagram. Shows 2 positive battery cables for the post and says “cables” for the installation procedure.

honestly, don’t think it matters if they connect together at the starter or at the fuse block. Since they’re on the same post in either configuration, power is still flowing regardless.

Correct. But with our mods, you have to tie in the battery. So you will now have fuse box to starter, alt to starter and batt to starter. The starter is just acting like a junction.

I, too, can confirm, there are three connections on the positive post on the starter (not the post with the braided cable that goes from the solenoid to the motor): long cable from the battery through the tunnel, short thinner wire to the alternator, and medium thickness wire to the positive post on the fuse box. On my '06 SS/SC the latter had a little 90° tab on it that was indexed to a slot on the starter which made it a little more finicky to install.
