Brakes!

B
UPDATED: Found answers to some of these in other areas of forum and updated below.

While we are looking at brakes, we have a couple of questions per the following table that we created (we think these are correct - let us know if not):
BrakesTable.jpg

In reading through the SS items, the last column JL9/LNF comes into play where all 4 wheels have rotors and calipers supplied by DF - 11" for front and 10" for rear. Read through http://www.dfkitcar.com/forum/index...5-114-3-conversion-and-brake-information.213/

In our case, we have a 2008 Sport donor which has the JL9 brake package.

Case 1 - Keep the 5x110 hubs that came with the donor:
1. Rear - The 296mm (11.6") rotors on the rear are larger than the "standard" 256mm (10") version. I read somewhere that the brakes are well balanced with the standard rotors, so does that mean these larger 296mm ones will unbalance the braking by an excessive amount?

Case 2 - Replace all 4 hubs with 4x100 hubs to enable larger selection of wheels:
1. Rear - Looks like we have an option to have the 296mm redrilled to 4x100 or go with the standard version of 10" with standard 4x100.

Thanks!

I hate to open a can of worms here, but I am curious on people's experience - it looks like lots of comments on the forums say that the standard semi-metallic pads do very well. Is there a good/bad reason to consider ceramic pads?

I bought power stop ceramic pads for mine, I feel that they hold up better to heat and fade on the track under repeated hard breaking, But I have never ran anything else on my Goblin. I figure for the price and how long the ceramic brakes are likely to last on the goblin I did it.

Just letting off the gas on the street is like hitting the breaks LOL.

Which part number did you go with front and rear?

Thanks!

Here is exactly what I ordered 2 pairs for front and back.

I ordered the same set, but I guess I forgot to turn my brain on that day because I thought it was a full F+R set. I discovered that yesterday when installing the brakes on the front of my Goblin, and I wasn't sure if Cobalt front pads = Goblin front or Goblin rear. I went ahead and tried, and they fit fine. So today I was looking for rear pads, only to discover a very limited option set... but you're saying that these "front" pads will work on both?

Yes they work on both the front and rear, I used 2 pairs of these that I posted above.

AFAIK the brakes are the same front and rear in my SS kit I received 4 brake calipers.
