With the goblin just needing tuning next spring, I took on another project for the winter.
I was given an 01’ Triumph Sprint ST 955i from a family friend. The bike was purchased brand new and mechanically taken care of great! Cosmetically…not so much. Mishaps in the garage and bad decisions lead to many of the fairings being broken or scraped, along with bent and broken levers. The cosmetic damage does not bother me as the look of the bike stock does not tickle my fancy.
I got it home this past weekend and began disassembly. I wish the cobalt tear down went this quick. It took me all of 3.5 hours including bagging all bolts and labeling all connections
Inspiration for the final outcome is fueled by a Kit produced in the UK. The company is called CRK (Cafe Racer Kits), they produce cafe racer conversion kits for a handful of motorcycle manufacturers. Unfortunately the company does not ship to the US right now, so for the time being I will be fabricating a subframe on my own. I have not decided if I want to take a shot at creating my own fiberglass fairings or if I will be purchasing replica vintage fairings and adapting / making brackets to fit.
