Deciding on a Donor for my Car Draumr

after some thinking, I have decided that it might end up being better and cheaper for now to get a manual base goblin/cobalt and later on get a ZZP supercharger kit and a cobalt SC to put on it which would put me roughly at 1100 saying I bought a used SC. The one problem I am not fully certain about is how much of the 2.2 or 2.4L engine I would have to replace to be safe running the SC and not end up destroying the engine. one person I was talking to about this commented that I could buy an already built 2.0 with a SC but they are very expensive and would not make doing this part worth it versus just getting a SC kit and car. I could get the SC kit and car for roughly 4,130 (that's with the SC kit minus 710 that the manual base is and a car for 3,500) and that would be cheaper than a fully new built-up engine from someone like ZZP or another manufacturer. what are your thoughts on this? Also for now my future goblins name is going to be Draumr which means Dream in the language from a book series I like and also in Icelandic by chance.
Hey glad you mentioned me. Yes I started with an 07 ls 2.2l l61 engine and f23 transmission. I initially supercharged and now I'm k04 turbo charged with a built motor pushing 250 to 300hp at around 15 to 20psi of boost. I will say if I could do it all over again I'd probably just buy a lsj and turbo from the start. My reason being is easier tuning, not needing to rebuild the engine and cost. Just some things I can think of off the top of my head.
Car 2k
Rebuilding the engine with forged internals and other goodies including machine shop cost etc 3k
Turbo application 1k
Lsj intake, turbo adapter place option b Dual bypass and heat exchanger stuff probably an additional 1k. All the little stuff like an lines fuel pressure stuff etc things get out of hand quick.

The headache associated with turbo charging something not meant to and pushing it hard costs a lot that I can't even put a number to.

Initially when I planned to build my goblin I said NA was going to be fast enough. Then I was like well maybe a little more power so I supercharged then of course comes the turbo. Looking back at all the headaches I've had turbo charging makes me sick and the money I've spent is insane. I envy those that have been able to build these things at a reasonable price tag sub 20k super or turbo charged.

Well, I spent 35K on my goblin...feel better bro!

Don't stop researching...and searching...for your end state. I can't tell you how many people have pulled me aside at car shows and told me how you unique/one off this car is. Don't chase a horsepower/torque number...that's an endless road. Have fun with it and show the world what a guy/gal can do with some tools and steel in a garage.
