Well, I have failed the goblin community. I didn't win best in show lol. It was a great time though, the Goblin was a hit. So many questions of what it was, how much power, where I bought it etc. I also met a few Goblin enthusiasts, Sorry I don't remember your names but it was great chatting with you guys. I think one guy was frame 303 and the other was family of @ctuinstra. The winner was a big motor Monte Carlo that was pretty crazy. Anyways here is some pictures!

That gold car and the blue car are what I imagine when they are trying to make Hot Wheels cars. With that, I think a Goblin would make a pretty wild looking car.

That Monte Carlo is outrageous. I'm trying to understand what the tunnel ram intake is mounted on top of? Is the top of engine actually sitting up that high or it mounted on a supercharger of some kind? I have to assume the twin charge pipes are coming up from turbochargers.

The blue 'truck' in the last photo is just weird enough to be a good candidate.

The gold one is either a replica of or a repainted version of the Twin Mill that is an old hot wheels car from the 1960s(?). I remember having one as a kid, it was blue if I recall correctly.

That Monte was the winner of the show, moving on to the next round of competition. Supposedly it runs 9s in the 1/4 mile but it never started while there, pushed into the show and pushed out of the show. The blue truck and the twin mill replica are already made into hot wheels cars and that was a display they brought to the show.

Honestly I think my goblin, while different from the normal cars, was not "wild" enough to be considered. I don't think my car is flashy enough based off what they picked.

I’m not sure what’s going on with that intake. o_O I’d like to see it pull 9s in the quarter. I’m not exactly buying all that.

could be in hot wheels dune buggy collection :p

Blue Monte Carlo looks to be Supercharged with a high rise tunnel ram on a dual box home built intake and three large carbs on top with the dual piped airbox feeding it.

Sorry, when a car gets pushed into and out of a car show it has no cred. Unless there are videos and official time slips for those 9 second runs (takes back to back runs at that time to be recognized) it's all blowing smoke.

Great that you were there to show the crowd what actual performance looks like! Not exactly relevant to the Hot Wheels buying crowd though. My (not) in-depth, fast, but critical examination of Hot Wheels cars lately in the supermarket tells me that Image Sells. I.E.: Chrome, Bass Boat paint, oversized wheels, Extra + scale details, skulls, blood, bones, fangs, demons and mostly shiny! Apparently Hot Wheels is no longer even limiting their car designs to being functional on/with their toy tracks? I'm not complaining, it's how they sell their product.
You brought a bar of soap in a sock to a pillow fight. They pushed the Monte in and out; while you DROVE there and BACK! (And probably did some max cornering, wahoo acceleration tests and generally proved viability. IMO You won.) You did great considering the venue and THEIR goals!
I ever warn: In a world where "Form" finally vanquishes "Function", we will all be great looking corpses and it will ONLY take 2 weeks.

Very well put!

I will say that I trailered to the show, still working out some tuning stuff. I did however unload and drive it in and out of the show under power. When leaving there were so many people taking videos and pictures of me, it was crazy.

They took pictures of your Goblin to show their friends what a cool car they saw. They took pictures of those other cars to show their friends how ridiculous/absurd those builds were, which I think is the goal of that tour - absurdities.

Hot Wheels is a special case, they make wacky looking stuff to sell units to kids. They also make some historic cars as well, rendered rather faithfully considering their small scale. We all get something from Hot Wheels, cause cool is in the eye of the beholder.
This show was apparently about max-fantasy(some shows are about who spent the most $$$, etc). No amount of sparkle paint could have put you in the running, you would have needed triple wings with Maltese Crosses like the Red Barron on the front and the back as well! Oh, and a machine gun.
Maybe they'll call you when they make a run of real rods for us.
Hot Wheels is the only way I'm likely to buy a Ferrari, or even a new car for that matter.
Keep on Dreamin' Y'all!
