Although, you don’t have a tape or cd player in there to really enjoy the music, the way it was meant to be. :p

I ain’t gonna lie. My new truck doesn’t have a cd player and I kind of miss that. Houston radio sucks and although xm has 500 channels, they just rotate the same songs over and over on every channel. When I want Arc Angles or Weird Al Yankovic I want them now. :p

Nice! What was your solution for tunes in the Goblin? My little JBL Bluetooth tube is just below adequate for sound and slightly above embarrassing for effort. lol.

Goblin audio is handled by a NVX Bluetooth unit, a small Soundstream 4-channel amp, a Polk 5.25" component set in the front, and a pair of Kicker CS 5.25" 2-ways in the rear.

For the front, I cut holes in the sides of the footwell cover and mounted the midbass drivers there. I used a 3D-printed bracket to mount the tweeters to the arms where you secure the hood.

For the rear, I cut holes in the engine cover, right behind the seats.

I do have aspirations of adding a small subwoofer, but I don't think I'm actually going to. There is just no space for it without cutting pieces out of the frame or similar, which is a road I really don't want to travel. Maybe I'll be able to find a bass tube that's small enough, I don't know.

Jeremy, would a 6 inch bass tube work? Think it could fit behind one of the seats?

And the nice thing it is powered, so you won't need to purchase a second amp.

Maybe. When I'm back home from the beach, I'll take some measurements.

Cool another 6G Bronco fan! My wife and I have own 2, my '23 BL SAS LUX 2dr Green (I made my own "Heritage") and her '24 Heritage Limited 2dr Yellow. Owned both about 4-6 months and I've modified both of them already :) I have build threads on the 6G forum, but here are both!
Them's some fat tires on those boys. I bet you're having a blast offroading them both at the same time!

I believe I am going to follow through on upgrading to the higher-tier appearance items: the grill, headlights, and fender emblems. Not yet though.

Last week, a pair of deer leapt out in the road right in front of me, while I was doing about 35 mph after sundown, near the local county park. The first one gave me a bit of a "forward notice" so to speak, so I managed to mash the brakes and lose a bit of that speed, but the second one contacted my bumper.

The deer's head cracked the grill (and a support piece behind it), and its torso crushed a pod on the bumper that I can only surmise is intended to be a piece that can be replaced cheaply if/when the Bronco's driver damages it offroading. That piece cost me about $62 via internet order from a Ford dealer. The grill was a lot more expensive, but I never liked the "Big Bend" variant grill, so I found an OEM Black Diamond grill on Ebay and paid $315 for that instead of $800 for the direct replacement from Ford. Additionally, the cracked support piece cost me $200 plus shipping off Ebay. Lastly, I took the opportunity to change the white BRONCO lettering on the grill, since for some reason, those letters are designed to be installed once only (there's melted connectors on the back). The white lettering never looked right on the vehicle, which is entirely black otherwise aside from the wheels (metallic grey) and rear emblem (polished stainless). I installed gloss black lettering that is backed with 3M adhesive and push pins.

Considering that I hit a deer at ~30 mph, I am pleased that I didn't need to involve insurance and didn't have to spend all that much to fix it.

Current upgrade list and status:
  • Audio
  • Side steps
  • 3rd-party addon for rear hatch
  • Door pockets
  • Taillights
  • Maybe: better internal lighting for illuminating the interior at night
  • black Bronco lettering on the front grill
  • Maybe: new side emblems
  • Maybe: signature headlights
  • Maybe: new high-trim grill for the front
  • Maybe maybe: Auto stop/start eliminator harness

Jeremy, I'm assuming the deer got up and ran off??? You didn't mention you were making any venison for dinner. :p Glad you didn't get hurt trying to swerve, usually not a good thing to do in a high clearance vehicle. Straight ahead and let the protective equipment do its thing is the best outcome. ;)

I think I knocked it unconscious. It stumbled around and faceplanted when I first hit it, then pushed itself forward with its hind legs. After that, it laid still for a good 10 minutes while I was dealing with a park ranger. As he was approaching it to examine it, it woke up, got up, faceplanted again, and pushed itself into the brush with its hind legs. Pretty sure it's dead somewhere in the woods.

Looks way better. :cool:Glad it cost less than a deductible.

sucks for the deer and you didn’t get it. Which, technically you can’t keep it. It’s rangers call on what to do with it.

going to autocross 3 1/2 years ago I hit 2 deer. just like your story, I saw it and started scrubbing speed. 1 grazed my bumper, the other nailed the trailer with the goblin on it. I stopped and saw fur and blood on the goblin and trailer. It was dark and only had my cell phone for a light. I couldn’t find her. :( Continued to autocross. On the way home I stoped and found her. Pissed me off. I would have called parks and wildlife, but I couldn’t find her, so I finger it was just stunned and ran off.

Got a call from the park ranger this morning. They did find a dead doe over the weekend, not far from where I hit her. Probably the same one, but not definite. Her skull was cracked and she had broken ribs and front leg.

I am still impressed at the relatively slight damage to my Bronco, considering the damage done to the doe and the speed at which I hit her.

4000 lbs versus 200 lbs - doesn't take a lot of speed to impart a high G impact force into the lighter mass. Physics always wins. :p:cool:

And deer flesh > plastic, it seems. The bumper didn't move a single millimeter though, love that!

They actually hold up quite well during a deer impact! This was in March on the way to work, only destroyed the hood, one headlight, the grille support and the grille itself.
