This can't be right

Started to do some preliminary alignment work and I just happened to notice that the front brake hardware didn't seem to fit right. Not sure why I didn't notice it while assembling the brakes, but on closer inspection today, I noticed that the pads and hardware don't fit the caliper bracket. Did I get the wrong bracket or the wrong pads/hardware from DF? It's like this on both LH and RH sides:

I think you only need 1 squealer per brake pad.
I have only one squealer per caliper - its on the inside pad, so not pictured here. Perhaps the picture isn't clear enough, but if you zoom in on the "ears" on the end of the pad, you can see the hardware fits the bracket very poorly and only about 10% of the top pad ear is engaged with the bracket.

That does look wrong.
Front brake pads should be for a 2009 Cobalt base model. I used Centric Posi Quiet Premium Ceramic pads.

According to that part number on the pad, 25809846, those are for 2006-2008 Cobalt SS/Sport (2.0/SC and 2.4/NA) according to Summit. I think the front pads for the Goblin are supposed to be the front pads from a 2009-2010 base (2.2/NA) car. Here are the part numbers from the front calipers, according to Ross in another thread:
18-B4880A - Front driver (2007-2010 base Cobalt 2.2)
18-B4881A - Front passenger (2007-2010 base Cobalt 2.2)

For completeness, the rear calipers (with parking brake) are 18-B5050 and 18-B5051, from a 2006-2009 Solstice.

My DF stage 2 came with 15271565 pads for the rear, which fit as expected. However, it looks like I also have 25809846 pads up front, and they fit the same as yours. My car isn't drivable just yet (close), so I've not noticed. Yikes...

Wow! that's just wrong. The ears on the pads should be jammed against all of the anti rattle spring clip. It's usually a bit of a fight to get the pads into the pad guide with the spring clips in place. Don't be surprised if they were just mis-marked and mis-packed, there are thousands of different pads out there and in production mistakes get duplicated many times before they're caught! Great catch! This could have ended badly. Curious to see what the right pads looks like?

I’ve got Power Stop Z23-956 showing up tomorrow, hoping they fit the same as your 17-956. They should be the same part, just different pad material. Fingers crossed.

So why are the kits getting shipped with the pads that don't fit properly? @Adam @Lonny . I'm in the same boat. I just fitted mine yesterday and noticed this.

I had seen on another post some supplier issues where the wrong parts were in boxes. were the boxes the wrong pad came in labeled correctly?

My pads were not in a box. They were shrink wrapped together and just tossed in with the calipers.

I did email DF about it, but haven't heard back.

Looking into buying one of the goblin kits. I am a mechanic by trade. Using an NA 2.2 HHR 5 speed with no ABS as the main donor. I know the donor front discs end up in the rear of a goblin. Additionally my donor is a 5 bolt 110mm pattern. What is used as a front hub on the machined goblin uprights? Are the rear drum wheel bearing hubs off the donor repurposed for the front? What does DF cars use for the front brakes?

Currently, I am assuming that the rear hubs are repurposed, and another set of front rotors, and calipers the same spec as the donor vehicle are used in the front. And a brake biasing valve or adjustable proportioning valve is used to fine tune the system since theres no ABS, and the brakes in the rear are not smaller than the front.

Thanks
Matt

Rear hubs go on the front. Then Df supplies front rotors and calipers from the front of a base model cobalt, I believe. At 1600#, you don’t need a ton of brakes. With no abs/prop valve, an added one prop valve lets you dial in brake bias, though.

So if I let them know I have a 5 bolt pattern then they will supply I assume probably cobalt LT 5 bolt rotors, and cobalt calipers.

DF has an option for 5x114.3mm (or 5x4.5") redrilled hubs and rotors, which gives you a lot more wheel options.
If you pick that option, then DF can take a new set of wheel hubs, redrill them, and include them in your kit.

What Ross said. There are options. Just gotta let the Df guys know when you order.

There’s probably a 2 month lead time from ordering to delivery, so there’s time in between to change thing or sort them out. Df will normally contact you right before thay build to go over the build list.
