And by bend, I mean a dedicated section bent at an angle so the majority of the upright is still vertical, just offset in.

OR, make rigid uprights that form an X (blue) that align with the existing mounts (red). Then connect the wing mounts to the upright mounts with wire/turnbuckles or threaded rods (green) to make it stiff enough.

Question for the masses;

I found an amazing deal on a carbon fiber spoiler down the street from me but the mounting holes are only 22” apart. The uprights from DF are about 26.5” apart and with the 90° bracket make it about 24”-25”.

Has anyone drilled into carbon fiber to mount a wing? I’m not sure how thick it is but my thought was utilizing rivnuts if I can get them to grab (worried about the strength of that) or getting a longer bolt and using spacers to make up the difference.
I have. I drilled into my NRG wing to bring the mounts closer together. I put rivnuts in it, lathered in epoxy to give me a little more of a comfort factor. It's been up to 100mph multiple times. I'm not concerned.

Problem is that it won't give you any warning when it fails. Good chance it will be there 1 minute, gone the next.

I thought of epoxy too, with my skepticism and at least one person saying it was unsafe, I will err on the side of caution.

FWIW the standard mounting for the NRG wing is just threads tapped in the carbon. Conceivably, rivnuts + epoxy would be stronger than stock.

It’s probably inserts imbedded in the carbon. No way no how would I trust threads in carbon fiber unless it was extremely thick.

Working on the spoiler fit up this evening. I got some long bolts and a tube of aluminum stock to cut and use as spacers.

I made a U bracket out of sheet metal and cut aluminum tube stock as a spacer. The fit seems very solid but we will see once out on the road at speed. I may need to make/get a more robust bracket.

If you need to add any additional stability, throw some serrated washers between the headlight bucket mounting tabs and the U bracket.

I ordered a set of tail lights that have an integrated turn signal and reverse.

This got me thinking about the wiring in the harness, unfortunately after they have shipped;

Black - Ground
Brown - Running
Green - Reverse
Yellow - Brake and Turn

For the yellow wire, how would I go about getting the turn signal function separate from the brake light? If I’m thinking about it correctly, I would need to pull a wire from the mirror turn signal to power the ambers. What about the brake light? I do not want that to flash with the ambers.

I can always return them and get a solid set with red and reverse.

I did something similar and never could work around it. I thought about a work around, but never tried it.

I used Honda grom taillights on mine (made a bracket and such). Stock taillight is a led run and brake. Aftermarket is the cool integrated led run, stop and left and right turn in amber. I figured I would hook left and right turn together so the whole thing would flash yellow. Ya. That didn’t work with the stock wiring. Ended up using stock grom taillight and put one of the fancy ones on my grom.

I never could think of a good work around. Maybe others have something.
