‘95 Corvette convertible

So I did a thing. Mostly a rescue. My buddy’s neighbor and his wife are down on their health and he has this 95 ‘vette he never drives. It’s just in the way, taking up space and wifey is tired of it being there. These are not worth a whole lot and it has enough little things wrong with it to make it even less desirable, so he was willing to wheel and deal to get it out of his driveway. Now it looks like I have a new project. :D

Here’s all its glory. 1995 corvette convertible automatic, with most options for that year. The plus side is it does NOT have the electronic suspension or heads up display. It does pretty much have everything else, though.

Looks like you’re on track to have the perfect Halloween costume!

we give my other corvette buddy hell, because he fits that to a T. :D

the sad part is I’m not a big corvette fan, especially that body (C4), because I worked at the dealer when those were new and I was one of the only ones to work on them there. It’s all fun and games until you have to get under the dash. o_O

The "AC Controls Stick" may turn out to be much more than that. My '96 does it and depending on the specific AC option, can be 1 of 2 different modules that can cause the problem. Replacement modules are expensive but there are repair services available for less. I haven't really dug into it yet beyond that. Of course, you probably already know from your previous experience.

Ya. I’ll have to joggle my memory on a lot of this. It’s been 24ish years since I last touched one. Plus, that was back then you replaced stuff mostly under warranty, now you’ll have to take it apart and fix things. At least there’s a lot more info on these with the invention of the interwebs. We sure didn’t have that back then. Well, we did, but it was not like it is now at least.

LT1 right? I had a 97 Camaro Z28 it was a fun car. I remember being rather angry while doing plugs and wires on it. That was 12 years ago tho so maybe I'm older and wiser and it wouldn't frustrate me as bad now to change them out. I always thought the LT1 had it's own unique sound compared to the sbc's or LS motors. It did have a special talent for making me take a tow truck ride home about once a year for optispark issues tho.

Yep LT1. I worked on a lot of Camaro’s back in the day and had a 96 ws6 trans am. Plugs in the vette are pretty easy. Everything is accessible up top. The F body, not so much. All done from the bottom.

ugh. Ya. Not looking forward to doing an optispark, if we keep it.

The car is at my buddy’s house since it was raining the day we looked at it and I don’t have a trailer and such to bring it home. Yesterday he was going to take his daughter for a spin, but it wouldn’t start. basically, it starts and dies. After talking to him, we figured it it didn’t have any fuel pressure. Odd, because the fuel pump was replaced back in April. So I went there today to look into it. Key on, it builds about 15 psi then drops. Tested the pressure regulator with a vacuum pump and it’s good. Small chance the injectors are hung open, but not really. Pulled the fuel pump and bingo. This is old school, where you have a replaceable pump on the sending unit. It’s attached with what’s supposed to be a “pulsator”, but the new pumps just come with a fuel hose, not a pulsator. Ya. That cheap ass hose doesn’t like being submerged in fuel. So a few bucks later for some submersible 100psi hose and we are back in business.

At least those were easy to get the fuel pumps out. 95 was before the fresh air/vapor lines to the distributor if I remember right. I had a few of those I put the later distributor cap on and installed the vacuum line kit to help keep the water out.
