V1 Blowing Fuse for After-cooler “Heat Exchanger”

I am having an issue with starting the Goblin. I did get the car to start a few days ago, Since then I have finished the Dash and Lights for the harness. Before I could hear the ”Heat Exchanger” HE fan running. Now every time I replace the fuse I get a blown fuse any ideas?

For info: This is a DF harness.

Also when I try and start the car I get no crank and the anti theft light comes on

4 possibilities
You have a short to ground, could be in the wiring or fan itself.
The fan is "blocked" and overloading
The fuse is to small. (don't just stick in a larger, you could melt your wiring harness)
You have a bad ground that is reducing voltage causing the amps to increase (doubtful)

there was a zip tie in the fan I removed it and still not working. I removed the FAN and powered it directly off battery and it works fine.

With the fan removed, does the fuse blow with the key on?
The anti-theft light is concerning, probably preventing the engine from cranking. Are you able to pull codes from the OBDII port?

I do have a scanner I will pull again before all I could get was evap error.
No the fuse does not blow now. I have the fan hooked back up and the fuse is not blowing. I hope the fan was stuck and blow the fuse before. Now I am not getting any power on the fan connection.

Current symptoms

  1. No power to the Red fan wire ” there was before“
    1. continuity is verified from front to back on heat exchanger wire
  2. I am not able to find the fuse for the HE fan. They are not blown
  3. Info and Back buttons do not work on the dash
  4. Tried both keys and no start
  5. The dash is showing the anti theft and then goes out.
    1. when I try to start the motor it shows the anti theft again
    2. Tried to disconnect battery and wait still no work
  6. Verified the Fans both work directly off the battery.

Need some help

The reason I think the fans have something to do with it is I think it is a side affect of the the no start. I am thinking all the wiring I did is tripped the anti theft? I don’t know.. getting frustrated :(

When my car has data issues on the LAN, I am able to start the car by turning the key on, and jumping the starter motor.
There is a small purple wire on the starter motor, that when given 12V+ will engage the solenoid, and start cranking the car.
Maybe try hot-wiring the starter motor...

What will that do? I think I need to fix the electrical issue…

He's suggesting this as a way to help determine if you may have a LAN problem.

I would start with codes, although if you don't have a reader that will pull codes other than P codes, it may not help.

In most of these cases it's almost always a data wire problem, a ground problem or a loose connection at the BCM/PCM. Since you have been working in the area of the dash, it might be a connection at the BCM. Of course it's hard to guess and you may have to start tracking voltages all through the system to see what isn't getting the "message". It could be a loose connection or a broken wire in many different places.

It would be difficult to do anything with the heat exchanger fan wire to make it not crank.

I got the motor to crank and start by jumping the Crank Relay. I still have all the same issues as before Though. It ran but ran like crap. I do believe there is an electrical issue since everything worked but the only thing I can think of I changed is mounted the BCM. I notice there was a couple of wires smashed on the back but I removed it and checked those wire and they are fine.

I am kind of dumb on the “LAN” “Data” wires etc. I have no idea what those are. Thus is why I paid DF to do my harness :(

Check your ground wires. crank relay ground should be close to the engine/bellhousing area and will maybe have up to 4 wires married into one terminal. This maybe attached to a bolt under or close to the fuse box in engine area.

You may have blown a fuse to the fans, when the wires were messed up and it was hunting for a ground anywhere. I don't know anything about LAN wires or other computer/bcm,ecm,pcm whatever you want to call them. I only know power and ground stuff.

Ok I will check the ground and test the relays. It’s frustrating that everything worked before I bolted up the BCM and finished the wiring for the lights etc
