Ive been futzing with it and you hit the nail on the head. I had to adjust out the cable where it passes through the tunnel to near maximum to get the bell crank far enough down to actuate the reverse lockout.

Now I need to work on that rivet that stops the lockout because it is ramping up the lockout and allowing the lockout to go further than it should.
I just built my shifter and I’m having the same issue. If the shifter is able to activate the release, it either can’t move over the rivet or pops all the way out over the tunnel cover. Did you find a solution to your issue?

Turned out my issue was tolerance stacking. I never found a true fix. I just left it be. The more I used the shifter the more I learn the feel and it's not really an issue.

Hmm ok. Thanks. My unit is basically non functional the way it is so I’m going to have to keep looking or just go without the reverse lockout.

How often are you guys searching for 6th gear? I get that if you have the lockout, you want it to function because it's a nifty doo-dad, but this makes your unit...shifter? Or just the mechanism not functional?

So does yours not work as well? I’m just wondering if the design is sort of wonky or did I not set it up properly.

My shifter hits the small tab when I go from neutral all the way to the right. I filed the tab down just a bit to give it more of a pronounced lip so it wouldn’t overshoot. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I usually resort to just reaching down and activating it after reversing (having the lockout on makes 5th WAY easier to find), then moving it back when I need to reverse.
