I don't know if F1 cars even use a maf. And most of the problems tend to show up at low throttle, at least on mine. Mine is probably the worst a set up can be, but it does work. I just need to readjust the maf when I change from driver only windshield to full windshield. And very low throttle still suffers a little. I think this is because of the larger tube in the K&N intake that used for mine. Large area and low velocity.

Did you use a honeycomb air straightener in front of the MAF. Those seem to be a good bandaid for short straight tube runs.

Yes, but I don't think I did a before and after. We were discussing on here that exposed filters might be a problem about the time I was doing mine so I stuck one in.

Nothing is ever easy lol....I've got what I think is an exhaust flange bolt stuck tight...Kroils, PB Blaster, fire..nothing will break it loose. What is the correct name for this nut/bolt combo? I need to grab one tomorrow assuming it's a common part. Go easy on the n00b, gentle reader...

Also, what is this and where does it connect?

No MAF in an F1 car, that was just a quick Google search result to show the general idea of what I was thinking.

If the nut is stuck on the stud just thread it back in when you install the muffler. It is called an exhaust manifold stud which should be 10mmx1.25 thread pitch. I don’t remember for certain on the pcv hose

Yeah I sorta wondered if I could just tighten that down stuck nut and all...sadly I've stripped the end of it trying to break it free, so off to AutoZone I go (those guys think I'm hysterical, and I probably am...). Thank you for the manifold stud spec!

Not sure about the pcv, there's something similar in the valve cover already, I'll take more photos later. Thanks again!

I need to correct my mistake. 10mm x 1.5 is what you need. 1.25 is fine thread

This is a vent that gets plumbed to the intake tube near the MAF.
I got rid of the braided line and ran some rubber hose.

Getting close to trying to fire up the car for the first time, and had another n00b question. My kit came apparently without MAF/MAP pipes (or the seller misplaced them, etc). I discussed this earlier in the build thread and will probably order them from DF (if they ever reply to my emails about body mounting hardware) or a 3rd party. My n00b question is this: Absent properly installed MAF/MAP sensors, can I expect the engine to fire up at all? My goal at this stage is just to verify I've got the harness installed properly, that the engine wiring harness is intact, ECU functioning, etc. If t fires up with crappy idle quality, etc. doesn't matter yet.

Also I am getting some self-study materials on tuning so I can be more intelligent about how these systems operate.

Made a slight edit based on my (il)literacy skills. And I believe it will also fire, but shut off pretty much immediately.

Yeah I sorta wondered about that. At least I can verify fuel pump comes up and primes, and that I can get the thing to turn over. It's been sitting for several years, so even a crank-and-die is a win at this point.

I would consider draining and replacing the engine oil, unless you're sure it's ok.

Map sensor is actually in the intake manifold. The other pressure sensor is boost pressure that I think is used for control of boost but not actually used to control how the engine is running. (Fuel/air control.
I think it should fire and try to run but will probably barely run if at all.
