Converting from Supercharged to Turbo

Just curious what all would have to be done to change from my supercharged setup to turbo. If I did change I would replace the complete engine with a turbo engine. What else is involved? would the wiring harness work? Has anyone completed this project?

Zzp sells a turbo upgrade for the LSJ SC engine. The stock SC intercooler struggles to keep up with the heat a turbo can produce, so a bigger intercooler is often added, instead of using the SC restrictive intake.

If you are talking about an using the Cobalt SS Turbo LNF engine, it's a Direct Injection Engine and would require a full ECM/BCM/Wiring Harness swap or go to an aftermarket ECM.

I have a supercharged car right now. I was thinking about switching to a turbo setup. The new wiring harness has pretty much changed my mind.
The reason I asked is because if all your looking is for a turbo then stay with the LSJ and get a zzp kit.

If you want to have a project and get big HP stick with the LSJ. Its easier to upgrade than the LNF.

Yep that was what I meant. Just kicking ideas around but not too excited about the prospect of a new harness.

I did this swap on mine. Its not easy, but doable...Although some of the needed connectors are getting really hard to find nowadays. Would also need a complete LNF/LDK engine harness if not already provided with the engine.

Looking at zzp website for turbo swap for LSJ, I gotta give them props on their conversion, they have an exhaust for a goblin listed.

Many of us have done a turbo swap from supercharged. I personally did it twice. I did the zzp entry level kit and then took all the turbo parts off and sold them. I loathed the z54 for autocross, the turbo worked well for street driving and going fast but it was like and on and off switch otherwise. I’m currently running a zzp stainless log manifold and and a g25-550 turbo through the factory manifold with the zzp billet throttle body adapter. I have zero issues with intake air temps and have it tuned to 30 psi. The car made 456whp at 24 psi on a dyno. The z54 made 379 at 24psi. I am on ethanol though, which should be considered if power is your goal, it also helps a lot with temps. I only run about 13/14 psi for auto x and track days, which is plenty of power in a 1600lb car for me. My understanding is is the efficiency of a turbo will always be cooler then the supercharger to compress air. I personally would never go back, nor back the z54 that come with that entry level kit.

I have the z57 and I haven't gotten a chance to drive it, but that is what im worried about. Will be using it for AutoX and track days and was thinking it will be the same issue you had. Wanted to see if there was a way to maybe help it out with doing a boost by gear controller. Im new at turbo stuff so not to sure what will work better.

It could of been my set up, or the tune but I wasnt happy with the z54 in autox, even after I installed turbo cams to try to get it to come a little sooner, everywhere else it was great. But I see you are in north jersey and would love to meet up at an event or track day to hang out with another goblin. Shoot me a PM
