I said to the lady to show me where it is written that I have to have doors because all I have heard from everyone is by mouth. She said we don’t have anything like that here, you have to get that from the state BMV in Indianapolis. But your the BMV, you should have it! Wow, you guys are just full of ideas!

My next door neighbor has a Birkin which has doors and I borrowed one for a picture and zipped tied it on. Voila, my Goblin has a door in a picture just what they asked for. I purposely took the picture looking into the sun so it looks washed out and not as clear.

Yeah, but they're built by "a big company", so The State wouldn't want to piss Polaris off!;) Curious to hear all these results! I am ever amazed when I witness a State Bureaucracy that seems ready to thwart the will of the people? "Elected Officials" can be recalled/not re-elected. Sadly, "Bureaucrats" are not so easily dislodged. An affective tool, used by the French Revolution, was a "capital" idea.

It's based on what it was manufactured as (a 3 wheeled motorcycle/autocycle). You could add 12 wheels and it's still federally classified the same based on the original vin. The 3 wheels allows them to bypass all the other automobile requirements, and most states have introduced legislation to classify them as "autocycles" now since they have a steering wheel and seats.

Well from reading your post today, you all are right, the Slingshot is considered a three wheeled motorcycle so the state of Indiana doesn’t care if it has doors or not. Same applies to a Jeep and if you take the doors off after the fact the state doesn’t care.

UPDATE: I again went down to the BMV in Indianapolis yesterday with a picture showing “doors” on my Goblin just like they asked for. They didn’t know that it was just being held on with two zip ties. The lady went to show the picture to her supervisor, came back a few minutes later and said, ‘All is good and she will be processing your paperwork today”, (yesterday).

Very encouraging I must say, but I’ll feel better with registration papers in hand with my VIN on it.

The saga continue.

The BMV just three days ago when I was down in Indianapolis when I was told they were processing my paperwork that day and “All was good”. Well I got in the mail a large envelope from the BVM and thought that was quick! Well……wrong! Now they are asking for “list of added receipts” for my kit car! My question was why didn’t they tell me that when they sent the first set of paperwork back on Friday when they told me all I needed was “a picture with a door” on the Goblin? I called they right away and the lady I spoke with this time said to fill out the affidavit, which I got in the mail today listing what was on the paperwork I got with my Goblin receipt which they already had, but now they what it on an affidavit. I said I’m driving down to Indy tomorrow for another face to face chat! This will be a total of about 380 mikes in the three trips in 10 days. Red tap, bureaucracy and government entities!

Well Lonnie that is interesting. When I called the sheriffs department to come and inspect mine, a deputy showed up and came into my shop and never walked around the car but stood only in front at the hood. I told him that it was a kit car and originally a Cobalt and he filled out the paper, signed it and then left. Never verified any numbers or bothered to look around or ask for receipts or documentation.
But 2.5 months is just nuts. You’re not making me feel any better about the process. Lol
Just curious, are there any other inspections that might be needed or am I done with them?
