V1 Eric's Goblin #450 (2009 T/C donor)

Yep that piece did the trick. PXL_20230430_154137195.jpgPXL_20230430_153523348.jpg

One other thing is that it seems I was sent the wrong pieces for the front hubs. My donor rear hubs slide right into the billet aluminum pieces for the front suspension but the 4 lug hubs I bought bind up. Is there something wrong with the hubs I got or do I need to return these to df and get 4 lug versions?

I would try the aluminum that binds on the new hub to the rusty hub. If it slides on, it is the new hubs that are an issue. I think 4 lug and 5 lug uprights are the same.

Agree with @Joebob, the front uprights from DF fit all Cobalt (rear) bearing hubs regardless if 4 lug or 5 lug. Believe you have been sent (or ordered) an incorrect bearing hub. I would contact whomever sold you the new bearing hub(s) to get this corrected.

Thanks for clearing that up with the hubs guys. Looks like im missing the button panels and a couple of the aluminum pieces for the intake so gotta call df tomorrow about those.

This week I got the rear brakes mounted up with my 5x110 to 5x114.3 adapters bolted on so I could test fit my wheels. Everything looks good with that those.

Talked with Adam about the front hubs and uprights and he told me some of the aftermarket hubs are drilled and tapped poorly and wont fit the uprights without loosening the studs in the hub to align them with the holes in the uprights. I tried loosening them up and was able to get them to drop onto the studs. Clearly should have bought the AC Delco hubs but looks like I can make them work. This weekend I should be able to get the front suspension bolted in and front brakes installed so I can test fit the front wheels. Then once I confirm everything fits I'll get tires mounted and I should have a goblin that can roll around the shop. Feels like I'm getting really close now.

Ignore the awful state of my workspace but I got the front suspension all bolted together this weekend and my wheels fit perfectly.

One question I had is how do I set up the steering wheel kit? I saw some pictures of installed steering wheels but I can't make any sense of it.

Been a while since I've updated the thread but I've been waiting on the intake pipe and charge pipe. Yesterday was the first time I got it moving under its own power. Next I'll need to get the alignment sorted and head to a weigh station to get a certified weigh slip and get WA state reg sorted out. Got the shifter and ebrake installed as well as all control surfaces.

Still need to install button panel and passenger seat as well as the hood. Just moved it to my lift to make working on suspension a bit easie.

May do something with them this winter since I'm getting this thing finished just in time for the 6 months of rain up here in WA.
Just paint them chassis black, everyone that can't tell the difference between the steel ones and the alloy ones will never notice, and everyone else knows what they are looking at. BUT if ya get the chance, polish them, because they look awesome!

Id imagine you would need to clear coat over the polished aluminum to keep it from oxidizing. Does look cool though.

While they could use a 5 min buff, after 2 years, they are still shiny. I fear that clear coating while is a good protector, once is starts yellowing or chipping, you have to blast and start the whole polish process again. I feel less risky to touch up once a year or so.

Agreed, I polished mine as well as the uprights and upper strut mounts and they still look good after two years without clearcoat. much easier to clean up an touch an area that needs attention if not clear coated.
