Help! Fuel level sensor reading

There is a chance you you have blown a fuse in the meter that would cause a problem although I’m not sure that it would cause this. See if it measure voltage.

The continuity works and now I understand how to test with drill, when I pull the trigger half way on the drill the meter shows 450 and then all the way in it goes down to 004.

So I now have to assume meter is working and the sensor is 100% defective.

Maybe silly question but this first sensor I’ve seen up close, is there anything missing in this photo, dose something come in contact with the radius ribs on the PCB board?

The meter is working. Use the 200 setting to check the switch again. Try positioning in the center of travel first and move it in both directions. If it stays at 1, like before, there's a good possibility the switch may be bad.

Nope, no movement on the meter. I’ll try my luck and see what is available at the salvage yard to pull on Friday.

New would be better but want it back on road ASAP , if I go thru more than a day of not driving it I go thru withdrawal symptoms of not feeling like a kid anymore.

I think I still have 2 sensors around my garage, or 1. I can take some pictures tomorrow with readings if you need. My fuel sensor is the one for earlier style from the LSJ setup.

So no luck getting a sensor at savage yard, they had a 2005 but it’s different than a 2010, so ordered a new one.

In mean time I would like to drive the Goblin this weekend so I put the pump back in without the old float sensor and now I can’t get her started? It almost turns over but doesn’t?

Am I missing something?

There is a shrader valve on the LSJ fuel rail... are you getting fuel pressure? Is it full of air?

With the shrader valve do I need to press it as someone turns the engine over?

When you turn the key to 'run' position, the fuel pump should kick on, and bring the fuel pressure to 60PSI. Press the shrader valve, and see if fuel flies out! I wonder if you can measure the pressure with a tire pressure gauge?

So had my wife crank the engine as I pressed the valve and gas did not spray out but was being pushed out, but still not starting?

Even though it was not working could the two wires of the fuel level sensor have been completing a circuit that isn’t be completed since I did not reinstall It?

Only thing I can think?

That was it, lesson learned. Even though float sensor is not working it still needs to be connected.

Started back up with first turn of the key.

Now I can make it to tomorrows. car show .

Good find. I wouldn't have guessed that the float sensor would cause it to not start. I learned!

Actually that was what I assumed at the moment but it was most likely a small plastic cover that was over some sort of spring steel clip/plug, not sure what it was but will share a pic when I take it apart again next week.

I think you had removed the fuel pressure regulator. It is located on the fuel pump assembly.

Yes, It was probable the cove that holds the regulator in place.

So just got a replacement off of eBay and there is definitely something missing from the above photo.

In the following photo you can see two set of fingers inside the square opening.
