Just joined because I am planning on ordering a kit in a few months. I have a decent background in the Ecotec platform and currently have a 2003 Cavalier in my garage with a Harrop HTV1320-LSJ blower on the stock L61 making 283whp/246wtq. I had built a Gen 1 L61 with the intentions of swapping it into the Cavalier, but I am wanting to get out of FWD and into RWD. Plus I have always wanted to built a kit car, so the Goblin is the perfect opportunity to fulfill those goals.
My build plan for the Goblin goes as this:
My built Gen 1 L61 which consists of
-GMPP hardened oil pump gears
-Weisco 10:1 pistons
-Eagle rods
-Eagle crank
-Powerbore sleeves
-Deleted balance shafts
Ported LSJ head
-Ferrera +1mm oversized valves
-Supertech 78lb springs
-ZZP "Stage 2" LSJ blower cams
-GMPP adjustable cam gears
-Golden Eagle head studs
-Stock LSJ head gasket
Megasquirt MS3 Pro to run the engine. The factory Cobalt PCM will not run the Gen 1 because of the trigger wheel on the crank.
Harrop HTV1320-LSJ supercharger
Ported LSJ intake manifold
LS4 throttle body(if i can source a cable driven one, not a fan of drive by wire)
Getrag F40 6-speed transmission(using ZZP's F40 conversion kit for Cobalts)
Wavetrac LSD
4H-Tech short shift linkage
Poly bushings in place of all the rubber bushings and all of the best suspension bits off a Cobalt.
I want to do a manual brake setup with it and possibly a manual steering setup.
I already have started collecting parts for it and want to get the bigger items out of the way before I order a kit. I already have the engine, trans, trans swap kit, and a few other odds & ends. I am not buying a donor because I do not plan on using a lot of parts off it. What parts I do need I can source online or make a trip to the junkyard.
I'll have to get ahold of Adam or Lonny before I order and see what chassis would be the best for me and how much would they be willing to customize it. I know I want an extend city chassis, but with how far I want to take it I dont know if the Base/MT will work or would I have to go with the SC or TC chassis. BTW the horsepower goal is 400whp, maybe 500whp if I have the extra coin to drop on OTTP's 1.9L TVS Cobalt blower.
