V1 Lights, speedometer, cruise control, cluster

I just bought an already built Goblin. And need help with a few things.

1. Tail lights work (new), but brake lights do not. I replaced the brake light sensor.

2. Speedometer doesn't work. I replaced the gauge cluster and speed sensor in the trans (F23). I get nothing.

3. Builder said he built it without Cruise control in mind. What's needed to added it back?

4. The builder added a horn button and some other button that appears to do nothing. All other wires are disconnected off the harness. I don't know what they do. There's no way to see the mileage or change settings/info on the cluster because there's no button and because it's giving an error: LF and RF PSI.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a Low Speed Data issue with the instrument cluster. Those are Dark Green wires that are often confused. I can't tell you exactly what is wrong, but that's where I would start.

The cruise control would need the buttons and resistors added back. There are very specific values and wiring of the buttons and resistors to make them work. Very doable.

Depending on exactly what model of donor you might not have used the right cluster. After trying several different ones in my SS I don’t think they are all interchangeable. The original may have had a bad servo motor that drives the needle and the replacement may have bee incorrect. I haven’t figured out how to confirm this though since I haven’t had a 100% known good cluster to try.

To some extent you are going to need the wiring diagrams for you particular donor to fix the other problems since we can’t know at what point wires were cut or removed.

There maybe a stop lamp fuse on the bcm (passenger footwell). The manual isn’t totally clear since the description says “not used” but I would expect the brake lights to be fused.

The new brake light switch doesn't work. I tested the clutch switch and the lights come on when the clutch is pressed.

Sounds like the wiring is swapped. Brake position and clutch position has the same connector. Brake has white, yellow and brown wires.
I swapped it just to test it. The brakes worked. Came back later and stopped working again. The clutch works everytime with either switch. I think the fault is within the harness.

You probably need to calibrate the brake light switch. To do that you’ll need to ground the park brake input at the bcm and use a Tech2 or other scan tool, outlined here
