V1 MAF and engine problems on 2.0 turbo

Hey guys, I picked up my second stage kit in feb and been putting everything together. I’ve had the engine in and Turned on many times to operating temp. Now I am to the part of plugging in my MAF sensor On the intake pipe, as soon as I plug it in the engine starts to idle rough, run rich, sputter and eventually die. I try to start it back up and it has trouble, and sputters again. I unplug my MAF and try again and engine starts up fine and idles with no problems. Anyone have this problem? Bad MAF? Or maybe I wired something wrong? Didn’t have this problem when it was in donor car. Any advice or pointed in the right direction would be great. Thanks!

Did you install the MAF in the correct direction? The sensor has a small arrow on it in the direction of air flow.
Not at my garage anymore but I will check tomorrow. I am sure I did.

I was just reading about if the MAF is plugged in without intercooler piping done then the sensor is detecting a lower flow of air then it’s suppose to and not run property. This would make sense cause I turned it on with one elbow not installed from the turbo?

By plugging in the MAF, your engine changes fuel calculations.
The engine calculates fuel based on 2 different methods. The main method is using the MAF, but the MAF sensor is slow, so during sudden throttle changes, the second method comes into play, which uses the RPM, MAP (manifold absolute pressure), and IAT (intake air temp).
If your engine has sensor failures, it will default to the one method with the working sensors.
