Need help insuring!

Recently purchased a goblin. Have read state farm, Allstate, American modern and Hagerty insure it. To those that have had success with State Farm and Allstate, how did you go about getting it insured? What did you tell them? We called, explained what the car is and said they can’t insure it. Any specific wording you used to get approved for the larger insurance companies like Allstate, progressive and State Farm? Thanks!

I walked into my local State Farm agent's office and talked with the agent. I had no recent policy with them, only years prior policy with different agent for State Farm. Showed them pictures, described the build, then they worked with their underwriter and got it insured. Mine is on an agreed value policy, I think that's what they called it. Small town main street insurance office and I had checked pricing for house/other cars insurance with that agent multiple times previously.

called multiple different offices, every time they ask year/make/model they are confused and not able to pull up DF goblin. Is that where I’m making the mistake? Are you all telling them your donor cobalt info and serial number?

Find an independent agent and talk to them. Or go to their office with info. Don't use the Cobalt info. If you insure it as a Cobalt and need the insurance, they likely won't pay.

Get them interested in the project so they will make the effort to help you.

Don't use the cobalt info. I was at the point of getting my title paperwork submitted, my goblin was street ready.

Remember insurance agents don't normally see odd cases. When I walked in, I talked with the named agent of the 1 agent office, not an assistant, and showed pictures and asked how it could be insured. I know I've seen a few different style dune buggies, sand rails, model t based hot rods, etc nearby so maybe they had experience with odd cases already. No idea which insurance brand the other external frame cars around me use but I figure at least 1 talked with the agent I used.

I just renewed with Rally for another year, they are the best. 1 speeding ticket dropped from my record now I have a clean record, its under 700 a year for full coverage up to 30k in value. I am very pleased with that price.

That's around what I'm shooting for in price. Once insured I'll bite the bullet on the Montana registration. I've got a clean record. So I'm hoping I'll get a way better deal with them then State Farm presented. They wanted to charge me $190 a month ($30 more then the full coverage for both my other vehicles)..
