V1 Sluggonaut's Extended Track #364 - 2007 SS/SC (Turbo) Donor

So the lower portion of the box is mounted and the upper portion doesn't clip into the lower? I epoxied/riveted an L bracket on either side of mine with stainless all-thread through. I then had another piece (used a piece of fiberglass with turn signal & Brake light resistors attached) across the entire top that was screwed down with wing nuts.

Thanks! Exactly the type of example I was looking for.

Ah, most of the damage looks to be the "middle section" of the assembly, so the fuse box itself. I have seen someone run a bungie cord around the fuse box and the lower piece to hold it together.

Exactly. I also refer to it as the middle section but called it the top section as I didn't know if everyone thought of it as a 3-piece assembly.

All of the damage is on the fuse box itself. The bottom part that bolts to the frame has all of the tabs and it's just the clips on the middle section that latch onto those that are broken off.

Here are the part numbers for the fusebox (aka Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block) and the fusebox bracket (aka Bracket Assembly, ECM Bracket) for future reference for myself/anyone else:

Fusebox: GM 25825001
Bracket: GM 15899326

Some sites mention these fitting "Vehicle Options: A" which may reference the 4th VIN character, which is A for the 2007 SS/SC cars.

#fusebox, fuse box, fusebox bracket, fuse box bracket

Wht not buy some cabinet latches, and rivet/epoxy them on?

Other possibilities for a fusebox: HHR or G5 are probably direct replacement. Maybe a Malibu or other GM small FWD model with a 4 cylinder?
I wouldn't try this without checking at least the pinout of all of the fuse box connectors. The G5 is likely the same as the base Cobalt but I would be surprised if the others are.

Part # checks the same for the G5 but the HHR is different. Didn't check the Malibu.

I've been trying to buy a new fuse box cover forever and everything online said the fuse boxes are the same between the engine models. After picking up a NA model fuse box cover at the pick and pull, I know this is not the case. If the cover is not the same size, how could the fuse box underneath it be the same?
Try getting on the Facebook SS Parts Group. There are full car part outs that you could buy the whole fuse box. You'd know exactly what year/model you are getting it from this way. May cost a little more (or not!) than eBay, but I think it's better not having that ambiguity to if it'll fit or not.

I should have been more clear - the plastic outer box, not the guts, since it seems that most times its the broken latches or mounts that is the problem.

Been on there since November and sold a lot of my parts through there.

I've learned a lot about the differences in fuse boxes between the various trim levels and about Cobalt owners' lack of knowledge of their own cars in dealings in that group. Most of that was from just trying to land a fusebox cover.

I'll buy the bracket or the cover used, but if I buy a fusebox it will be brand new only. For the $200, it will save hundreds of dollars worth of headaches and troubleshooting going with a new one over a used one. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with getting a used one, but it's not worth the risk to me to save $100.

All the hold down does now is keep the mount for the resistors in place, but it worked fine with the fuse box that had the broken tabs.
