Sneak Peek - Goblin V2

Jason d
The “ME” that was holding my breath to see a K motor powered Goblin died of suffocation 3 years ago in a parallel universe.
I guess being a fan of K and building with a K are different things. Ohhh! It’s a conspiracy! Big Eco-Tec is stopping them? (Not a believer) heck there has even been a rubber band powered Goblin! An Electric Goblin! I’m thinking Dreaming is good, actually doing is better!
Not everyone posts their builds so who’s know, and there’s nothing special or scary about an ecotec. I don’t plan on posting my build

By my last count there have been six other builders who were going to forego the GM drivetrain and install a Honda drivetrain. To date there have been no builders on the forum who have shared they have completed their Honda build. Not to state that this swap is not impossible to accomplish - everything is figuroutable - but keep us apprised of your progress. Yours would be the first. Good luck.

I get it, the K-series is an amazing platform with a huge following (huge aftermarket). It also has huge power potential.

But, Goblin v1 was designed around a Cobalt and v2 is designed around a VW so that's what the DF Support will be for. I'm not a huge VW fan but would still do the v2 if I was building one with the DF recommended power plant because that's where support will be.

I understand their decision on what they wanna use for the power plant but it’s also a kit car, you can do what ever your heart desires lol it’s a foundation for imagination at the end of the day they just giving you a route to take, imagine waiting for a Tesla blueprint, or k series or any other power plant. At the end of the day it’s about building and still using DF foundation.

If I was more confident in my electrical skills then I would consider this more as well. You are 100% correct, it's you car to do as you wish.

I own a Tesla and I’m sure it’s rowdy af in that goblin but a turbo K series screening at 10k rpm
Can’t compare lol

right to each their own, if a ecotec or vr6 makes you happy then go for it. But if you like another platform, make that happen cuz at the end of the day it’s about making yourself happy

I have a diesel bug that could be used for a donor sitting in my yard if anyone is interested in a diesel VW swap :)

@Lonny , @Adam , at the beginning of the thread on the V2 there was mention about the continuing support of the V1 through 2024. We are coming into the last quarter of the year, is there any news on extending support? Any V1 parts that will be obsolete soon? Just asking for the forum for those still working through the V1 stages. :D

A follow-up question would be replacement parts? I'm thinking stuff like the aluminum front hub mount, front control arms and the other DF specific parts. Having had an accident and planning on owning it for a long time, it would be nice to know replacement parts would still be easily obtained.

We plan to keep producing and selling the original V1 Goblin for a while (at least two to three more years) and store many of the V1-specific parts indefinitely for future support.
