V1 Steering column assembly question

So I feel like I've built this correct, until this point. Please help. What keeps the steering extension shaft from going back and forth inside this canister piece? What is the purpose for the three tapped holes behind the turnsignal cancel piece? Is the "c" clip left on the steering shaft?

The bearing goes on the outside, then the heads of three Allen bolts hold the bearing in place.

what are these three 5/16-18 x 5/8 bolts for?

I Believe they are for the steering wheel
