V1 Travis B's Track goblin #479 - 08 SS

WA08TC
As much as I wanted race ramps for the trailer I couldnt justify the price. $40 2x10s cut into 4',3',2' and screwed together.

Took the car to the track today got 4 total runs in. First time in a long time at the track and 1st with the goblin. Tried to get the launch right but was rough on the 60'. Was trying 3-4k and slipping the clutch but I either spun or bogged. Need more practice. This was w the tune at 510hp.

Fel-pro really comes in clutch. Had a valve cover leak and bought a fel-pro VC gasket. No more leak. Now I have a leak top of my timing cover, after a drive notice oil on the subframe and boot of the CV shaft. Atleast I didn't have to drop the motor.

I'm getting oil pooling in the area of my VVT solenoids that running down the valley of my valve cover. Seems the VC gasket has to ride up and over the top timing chain guide. Anybody have this issue? Saw some online that aren't straight but have the groove cut out of the bracket for the gasket to miss it.

Thoughts?

Powertrain is out. Have to take off the head and swap it over. Also removing the factory crank for the new motor.
Gen 3 88mm block
Wiseco pistons
Zzp 4340 rods
Keeping the factory head with 82# springs and fuel cam. More to come in the next few months.

So got the motor torn down, the pistons from the top looked good, flipped the motor over started removing the girdle. Got the crankshaft out looks good I'll be reusing it. Although found the issue with cylinder 1 low compression. Cylinders on all look good. But piston 1 has been better days had some vertical cracks and when touched the pieces fell off.

Definely over heated. Most likely from a hot spot close to that point of the piston causing detonation that fatigues the aluminum resembling what you found. The skirt looks very discolored below the damage. Scoring on the cylinder wall?

Actually the cylinders look very nice, still some visible cross hatching, not nicks or anything. There seems to be the non cast oil squirters wondering if the motor had been broken into prior.

So got the turbo mounted still contemplating where to use for an oil feed as I don't have the pre threaded hole in the block. Thinking head (BB turbo) or using the oil pressure switch port. But also got my wing uprights from sendcutsend. Should be getting the crank position sensor spacer and balance shaft timing chain tensioner delete plate and I'll post those once Installed.
Adam is installing my Quaife LSD into the f23 and that should be here in the next couple weeks.

Ya I figured it should work with the o-ring.left the balance shafts in place and cut the fins on the water pump. A buddy is welding 16an male fittings onto the thermo and wp so I can run some 16an 90° fittings to the electric water pump. Haven't figured a location yet. I'll do so when the motor and trans get mounted.

Alright a little back pain but getting that trans to line up with a hoist and a furniture dolly is rough.

2.1L (2.4 block with LNF crank)
Wiseco pistons
Zzp 4340 rods
F23 w/ Quaife LSD

Shout-out to DF for installing the diff before shipping out the trans. Still need to find a place to mount the Davies Craig 150ewp. But getting there.

Wow... lots of progress. New toys came just in time for christmas. Your friend did a nice job on those aluminum welds.
