I normally wouldn't bring this up but seeing this is a Nissan build.

Have you seen what some are doing with the CD009 Nissan transmission. Supposedly a very strong transmission and substantially cheaper than Tremac stuff, at least on new ones. It does require cutting off the bellhousing and running an adapter.

Just something to think about if you haven't sourced your trans yet.

yes I considered it for sure, I still might, I like how tiny the TKX is. I am using Holley Terminator X and they have a plug and play TKX wire harness that is looking very easy to install, I also like all of the shifter location adapters I will find the right one that allows me to re-use the old nissan center console for maximum sleeper effect.

side note....construction has begun on the rear cantilever suspension. Each one of the pivot plates is double layer 0.135" steel with 0.135" perf inserts welded in. I am just going to build this on my bench from my engineering drawings, fully assemble the rear, and lift it into place at ride height and connect the dots to the chassis. Already had it all mocked up and took all the measurements to make this drawing and did all the engineering to size components.

I am sleeving the top tubes holes to prevent crush from the (6) 5/8" grade 8 subframe bolts.

I have now realized that I need a floor mounted pedal box and I need to ditch the brake booster and my turbo headers and downpipe are going to take up most of the rest of the firewall. I like this idea so much better than trying to fit clutch master into the firewall, the nissan clutch was cable. I could have done a cable clutch that might have been cool too.

last piece of metal fab to mount the subframe getting laser cut now. after I mount the coil overs the roller is done!!!

just like a normal Miata the entire drive train can come out in 1 piece with 16 bolts and 4 coil overs removed

custom front rad support tube with cutouts for more airflow to radiator

water to air heat exchanger

power steering cooler will fit between the hood latch support and the heat exchanger

2 weeks away from being a completed roller!!!! boxed in OEM frame = pretty big brain stuff. Still need to add more gussets and stuff.
miata front suspension fit nice. I realized that I needed to shorten the front strut towers a lot since the McPherson strut is changing to a double wishbone. makes me appreciate how compact the Miata suspension is. I can swap a Miata suspension into anything now.

I have my Tremec TKX mounted now working on build a cross member. small and strong, I also needed to move the shifter back and the TKX has multiple shifter locations

I see you notched and lowered the top of the tunnel a bit, better fit to the bellhousing or top of the transmission? Or is this to accommodate the dash panel?
