It warmed up enough this morning to attend the Auto Island Caffeine & Fuel car show in Bluffton, SC (just outside Hilton Head). A good turnout with a variety of cars, and I was proud to represent DF Goblin.
This was one of the "Press" cars. Didn't do time on the track but was around for press use.Nice! Good to get it out for some early season exercise!
And parked next to a '69 Indy Pacecar - which is high on many collector's lists. My manager when I worked for Dekalb Ag in college had one of the rare ones - it was a 396 and 4 speed that did actual pacing laps at the race that year. It had 65 miles on the odo and he had it in an AC/heated garage. I've always wondered where that car went?
Most of the people were very knowledgeable participants, very few spectators. But they all liked the car and the concept.Any special interest in your Goblin? There is usually one person in the crowd that asks 100 questions and wants to know the details for buying one (and the donor) and how difficult the build is. Heck, I had 2 of these at the carshow I took my chassis on my trailer to - but it was populated with about 50% engineer types too.![]()
See, I told ya you'd do it! Beyond that, Congradulations on your win! I think they should have been in separate classes. I'd bet Kindig had big bucks in that creation of his, yours features perseverance!(also I'm biased because I like the colors.)I kicked off the season here at Idaho's largest auto show, the 2025 Boise Roadster Show, and happily took second place in class to the Kendig-It Design "TwelveAir". I always have some great conversations with people about the car, the build process, and hopefully inspire someone to tackle a build. Short video below of the event.
