Crank Issue

OK boys don't be mad at me but it was a simple fix. The last list Ross posted I pondered and recall never actually clearing the ECM codes. I powered up HP Tuners and cleared all codes engine started on crank.

-I am not certain what initially caused this issue possibly a unreliable upload of the last tune which caused intermittent gauge and power steering issues. Re-flashing appeared to have fixed this but only a long drive will be the final test.

-Intermittent Ground or Clutch switch may be an issue as recently I have had to re-attempt to crank the engine 3-4 times on occasion.

-Last night I noticed the white wire on the ignition switch was slightly frayed but continuity was good to the BCM so I moved on with the testing. I should probably replace this connector but the only one I found was on Amazon for $110!!! Has anyone attempted to replace the metal pins inside the connectors before?

The good news is this post is very helpful overall regarding engine crank troubleshooting and covers most of the bases. I am also going to be more paranoid about washing around the electronics in the future electrical is the biggest challenge with the Goblin build for me.

Which end of the white wire are you talking about replacing. I would avoid messing with any of the individual wires at the bcm connectors. I'm sure my intermittent problem at the bcm is because I disassembled it to remove the unused wires. It is a major pain to get all of the wires back in the correct spot and they seem to be looser after messing with it.

Other than that, replacing the metal ends is easy if you can find the correct end and use the correct crimper.

Get a re-pin kit (cheap on Amazon) that has the correct insert/removal tools - like this one. Covers most of the connector pin sizes.

The 'fit' on the pins can be adjusted slightly by (very) carefully tweaking the small tabs on the sides of the female pins.

This is helpful thanks. @Gtstorey the connector that will need to be fixed is the white pin for the ignition switch.

Thanks for all the replies. I haven't had time to work on the goblin. For now, I'm just jumping the relay to start it since I'm just letting it run every once and a while. I'll have some time off during the upcoming holidays and will try some of the suggestions here. I did finally get it inspected and registered, so I look forward to fixing this and getting it on the road.
