Did your piece have the actual manufacture and part number? Since yours is such an early car, it might be different sizes than typical.

What do the fittings at each end actually measure?

If you can't heat up and lube the hose you have to fit then maybe this (if long enough).

Edit: link removed, I was looking at OD.

1-13/16 fuel hose is uncommon. 1-7/8 is more common but I don't know that it would get small enough to seal.

You might check with Huntsville Rubber and Gasket.

I thought you had 1.75” hose that didn’t work?
I did a quick glance at McMaster Carr and they didn’t list anything between 1.75 and 2” recommended for gasoline. But recommend and will work for a few years isn’t always the same thing.

Try heating up the hose with a heat gun and use some silicone spray and man handle it on. My hose was not exactly easy to get on either but most aftermarket fuel filler hoses aren’t

I can't, I already tried both methods... I ordered a different one last night, hopefully it won't have the reinforcement wire in it...?
Chamfer the I.D with a razor knife? Unless you have an exhaust pipe spreader handy that might help
