Driver side CV shaft

Took the car for a small drive around the neighborhood, found tranny fluid on the rear subframe and ground around the driver side CV shaft where it enters the trans. Looks like it can move 1/4 to 1/2" in and out I'm guessing that's where the leak is coming from. I got equal length shafts for the 09 SS. Any ideas? Also hate that the clutch has a lot of play and can bump the steering shaft and the shifting is difficult with the corbeau seats.

Clutch probably has air.

make a big U shape “protractor” to kind of separate the seats so they don’t interfere with the cables? Like a clutch scatter shield just smaller. Attach it to the center tower.

Thinking I need to take off the knuckle and mess with my alignment to try and get the axle back in tried and won't just push in.

To save that headache I'm going to undo the ball joint and take the knuckle and coilovers off in one go.

However you do it, make sure your circlip on the inner drive shaft is open end up. There is a taper to the transmission insertion tube and the circlip will ride that and align itself as it squeezes smaller on the axle shaft. Tug hard on the axle shaft after insertion to check f it is locked into position.

Some folks have luck with just rotating the axle as they bump it in -- this turns the circlip into the desired position -- takes a few attempts.

I put just a touch of grease on mine to keep it in place for a few seconds but did stumble across a video of someone orientating the clip in a certain way to get it to slide in easier.

Anyway to fix the clutch pedal wiggling side to side? Hits the steering shaft sometimes.

There should be a metal washer on one side and a plastic washer on the other to take up the slack between the sides of the clutch arm and the pedal box.

If these are not present, replacements can be installed.
