My max IAT recorded to date was 144. Environmental factors and current setup are below. I'm running the intercooler in the front of the car with NACA ducts. Last dyno was 287 whp and 223 ft/lbs torque. Fighting IATs is the number one issue on the supercharged cars when you start pushing more boost. I extended my coolant loop to get a little more fluid in the system. The hoses are never more than bathtub warm to the touch. Higher octane fuel/E85 will most certainly build better power at the same or lower IATs.

- 90 degrees F
- 3rd WOT pass
- Max IAT recorded 144 degrees F
- 91 octane pump gas
- 60# injectors
- Remote tuning with ZZP (this really woke the car up, stable at 11.8 through entire pull)
- Altitude: 2,694
- ZZP Dual pass intercooler plate (no option B)
- Pigtail hoses feeding plate
- intercooler horizontally mounted (factory mounting location) and cooled by NACA ducts
- ZZP high output intercooler pump
- Harrop TVS 1320 supercharger
- 2.8" pulley
- GM stage 2 belt
- Max PSI recorded 18 lbs boost

thanks for the details. I think it’s strange more people don’t go E85. I guess maybe it’s not available everywhere. Did you buy HPTuners? Or just rent it from ZZP?

I ended up buying HP tuners and it turned out well. I did 7 iterations of tuning with Tyler and crew at ZZP and I'll be able to use it on other vehicles if need be. I road trip in my car, over 3K miles last year, so I want to be able to pull over and fuel up. If you're looking for big power just transition to the turbo kits for the LSJ. I wanted daily driver reliability with a just pull over at any gas station to fuel up...Goblin.

I am personally running E85 to get rid of any knock. I have my hp tuners and an old surface tablet in the car and could Flash a gas tune if I had to, but that was never necessary. I go around 60 to 80 miles and then fill up 4-5 gallons of E85. I don't trust my fuel gauge:) and don't even know how big my gas tank is. I'm usually never driving the goblin far. Just around town, some back roads,... My IAT2 temperatures are also in the 140 range. I sometimes have outside temps or 90-95 and it's usually never cooler than 70f.

I'm not sure what the best way is to get the iat2 down. I feel like the temperature difference from the heat exchanger to the outside air is just need high enough.

More cooling never hurts, but I'm running nearly your set-up with E85 and no issues at autocross. I wouldn't mind the extra expansion tank for the option B, just haven't got around to it and the setup still runs great.

Also, if you're already in for the duel pass, might as well do the o-rings. Its cheap insurance to make sure fluid isnt going into the intake. Pretty sure the hose you get is plenty with the kit.

Updates and looking for advice....

Got in my new set of wheels and tires for Autocross - Hoosier A7 275/35-15 on some cheap steely 15x10 wheels. Excited to give these a try this spring.

I ordered the ZZP dual pass kit. I didn't get the option B. Anybody on here do the kit without Option B? I also didn't order any new o-rings for the lamacores so I'm hoping mine are good, or i'll have to order some once i get it apart. Will the hoses that come with the kit work for the goblin or will I need to go get some hose? I also go some new spark plugs and plan to do an oil change while i'm in there.

Time for the question. My plan was to go 80# injectors and E85. Am I going to be able to do that with the little heat exchange that came with my goblin kit? Will I have issues with IAT2 temps? Anyone else with this basic LSJ supercharged setup on E85? no cooling upgrades other than a new pump and the dual pass kit.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

I went back and read some of your build log details. I remember messaging you way back because you are near Midland. I travel there several times a year for work.

I noticed in your log you mention an E85 fuel pump. Is that required due to the fuel demand? Which injectors did you go with?

Ahh yea, I got this one from ZZP: https://zzperformance.com/products/aem-e85-high-flow-in-tank-fuel-pump

The pump is both for the demand (more fueling needed for E85) and the harshness of the higher alcohol percentage that the stock pump wouldn't hold up to (at least for long). The injectors were the Siemens 80# and the appropriate wiring harness as well from ZZP. Nice reliable setup that I certainly can't complain about!

You will need a lot more intercooling. I know I do and I’m not running e85
Are you implying E85 runs hotter? E85 should run cooler than gas, but more intercooling may still be necessary.

I'm running E85 on an LSJ but I have the ZZP entry-level turbo swap with dual pass and Option B tank. I don't have IAT issues but I'm sure the intake temps on the supercharger will be higher than with a turbo setup. I also only do spirited street driving and not Auto-X.

Sorry, I should explain more. My brain was on autocross, like most of the time it is when talking about goblins.

normal driving you won’t be under boost near as much as something like autocross. Mine gets heat soaked after a few runs in 100° heat, so I definitely need to step up intercooling at some point, no matter what fuel is ran. Under normal driving or even spirited on the road, I’d doubt there would be any real problems with the stock intercooling system, but if an upgrade is needed there’s several out there with nice solutions.
