F23 oil change

Hi,

Has anyone an idea how to do an oil change on the F23 getrag gearbox? I can't find a lot information online. Which and how much oil does it need?

I don't know how old my gearbox is, I don't know how much oil is still in it, I don't know if it may has pulled some condensation in over the years,... I thought it might be good idea giving it a fresh oil treatment.

the procedure looks to be identical to the F35. Drain plug is on the bottom behind the drivers side CV axle too close to the subframe. Fill plug is on top and level plug is on the side between the two.

Here’s a video of someone changing it on a Saturn Vue.

If this is applicable to you now or happens in the future, here’s a post on the forum about f23 rattle and a service bulletin for the noise.

I changed mine when I replaced the leaking axle seal. I needed to shorten an 8mm Allen wrench cause the tubular lower subframe is fairly close. Drain plug under the driver side axle and the check is pretty much at axle level towards the rear. The fill plug is the black cap on top and used 2 quarts Dex VI fluid. Shifted smooth and didn’t seem noisy. I did not overfill it, just to the original level.

I did the same with the 8mm
