Front Wing Mount

I ordered this (affiliate link) front wing. Supposed to arrive tomorrow. The mounting spots are 19in apart. I looked already in the media folder and used the search, but I can't find any good inspiration on how to mount them.

Anyone with a front wing willing to share some pictures on how you mounted a front wing?

I think this person has that exact wing. Here is a right up on Facebook to how he installed it.

The wing arrived. It is 43in wide. Fits right between the front tires. I wonder if I should get the larger one.

It's rock solid. I need to level the wing alittle. It has too much angle. I'll get some better pics when I jack it up

I have not yet taken a picture from below. I used the mounting screws of the coolant radiator assembly. Then I build a 2x4 which clamps in between the as a second mounting point. Both points for the aluminum 1/8 x 1x1 are solid. I aligned the aluminum angles that they have the right distance when they are at the wing and allow to get to the screws to get the hood off.

Had a quick test drive. The free hanging area is too long for the aluminum. The wing swings quite a bit at low speed. It's more solid at higher speed. I guess it just gets forced down and stops swinging.

I think I'll get 3/4 in steel angle. That should be a lot more stable.

Here comes my review of the Front wing and mounting. First I got this Front wing 43.3in wide off amazon. I mounted with ¾in 1/8 aluminum. I connected it at the 2 bottom screws which hold the front cooler assembly.

Then I used a 2x4. I milled the tube diameter in the same angle and was able to get the 2x4 in without drilling any hole,… If someone needs the model of the 2x4 I have it in Fusion360.

The wing as a fixed distance for the mounting spots, It would be easy to drill new holes, but I decided to leave them as in.

First test drive showed movement and I was thinking of replacing the aluminum angle with iron angle, but then decided to give splitter support rods a try. I got 2 pairs as I couldn’t find one with a reasonable delivery time on amazon. I milled me 2 washers which fit in the holes of the tow bar. (Part if fusion, if you need it let me know.)

Next test drive and the wing is rock solid. The wing is only mounted with the 2 front mounts, and it does not move. Tested up to speeds of around 90mph.

Driving is much better now. Specially high speed stability is much improved.

I ended up not liking the width of the wing. It looked somehow to small and got a 53in wide wing of Amazon.

I haven't yet tested the new wing. I made a video with my gopro mounted on the upper arms of the front suspension with the old wing. It looks really solid and will do another video with the new wing and edit them to one video.

Today was the day. I took the Golbin out for a short ride. *There is a storm currently which brings in a lot rain bands over Florida...

Had it up to speed 70mph and it is a lot better than the smaller wing. All instability was gone. Have to test it again at higher speed, but very very confident now in the car.

Next up is a remote adjustment for the wing. @Desert Sasqwatch planted that idea with his top mounted wing. Have to buy a few actuators.

PS: I also installed a sheet metal under the engine. Not sure how much that influenced it, but I don't think to much.
