Now that's a go-kart! Type 4 engine, 904 transmission, Type 1 front beam and (looks like) swing rear - dang, that is a seat of the pants racer!

The guy just bought it. He was the one in a LS swapped bmw that ran with us last year. Blew the engine, so he bought that. :D It was a very simple build, as in, everything was about as super simple as you could get it. He was a couple of seconds slower than us, which I figured he would be the same or faster.

Not the best day at autocross for me. Broke an axle on the first run. :( I didn’t get to test any of the cool new parts. Jason let me drive his for his last 3 db runs. Theres a big difference in power delivery between super charged and turbo charged . Here’s the vid of breakage

I broke my axle the exact same way this past weekend at autocross. I just installed the new subframe and just before the event and didn't realize how far it stretches the axle on the driver side. Has anyone else been having axle issues with the new subframe?

Edit: Spoke with lonny and he said the heims are essentially supposed to be turned all the way in. My arms must've warped at powder coating and i was only able to get the holes to line up spinning the heims out a bit. I'm gonna need to pry or use a porta bar or something to get them lined up

Edit after looking at my goblin again: The “shortest” I could get it was all the way in on front inner heim, then move the rear one out till it matched the hole. Go all the way in on the outer, or even taking off the jamb nut to get it 3/4” closer.

plus, make sure your engine/trans is centered in the frame Properly.

I wasn’t sure how to adjust so I adjusted both the inboard heim joints equally until the bolts would go in and adjust the outboard heim joint all the way in. Granted we have not put a lot of miles on the L61/f23 but so far so good

I threaded the joints in and then unscrewed the inner joints just far enough (equally) until the bolts went through the holes. I didn't see another way to get things to line up. And like most things here, it didn't come with any sort of instructions or guide. I figured the less thread showing, the stronger the joint, but you still have to make it fit, no?

We have 2 days of autocross fun this weekend. Saturday is a makeup day from may, when it was canceled due to weather. ToxicBill and I both bought corvettes this year, so we decided to run them Saturday, then the goblins on Sunday. We are technically running in the wrong class with the vettes, but it was one of the few we could both run in and no one would get butthurt about it. We are both on common all weather tires, so it’s gonna be a slippery **** show. :D

day 1 with the vettes will be very tricky at the end. It’s a hard left turn that’s usually a bit dirty. If you slide off, there’s a light pole you can easily hit. And since we are on police/gov property, if you damage their property, they will make you pay for it and even ticket you.

day 2 is the same track, but backwards.

Sooooo that was different. It was 40° when we started and close to 50° when bill and I ran. Really no traction anywhere, with the cold. Made the best of it. I beat bill by .148 in our regular runs, but he hit super pursuit mode and beat me by 1.788 in DB runs. Had a great time and get to do it all over again tomorrow in the goblins.

Ugh. Sunday was not a good day. Ever have one of those days everything is just “off”? Ya. That was Sunday for me. Had some issues on setup that almost made me leave. We worked 1 and ran 2. Track was cold and slippery, but most handled it well. All was decent until a major crash as well as a minor one at the same time. This took 30 minutes or more to clear everything up and get rolling again. All of us heat 1 workers were tired and had to get moving to run heat 2. We barely got on grid and they wanted to send us immediately. Anyways. Just rushed and clouds set in at the end of heat 1 so the track was getting no heat from the sun at all.

I played slip and slid the whole heat and never could just get it. Overall. Still had a good time though. Here’s vids

Those barricades filled with water work pretty good. Car was “drivable” once toxicbill pulled it off the barricade and out of the mud with his truck. Airbags deployed though. It’s gonna be pricey to fix that one. :( It was a Porsche Cayman S? I think

Yeah, it was an interesting weekend indeed. Driving the Corvette was fun and I learned the putting the car into "Competitive Driving Mode" changes everything. As @Rttoys mentioned, i cranked out much better times in the DB runs. Definitely weird not being able to see the cones as I drove by...

I'd like to say Sunday was back to normal, but it was anything but. Long heats and accidents put a damper on things but at least we got to go home early.
