Ice Racing

Well... it is currently 38F out right now and I'm already starting to get the winter blues. My dad and I got to talking about building a sand rail or similar and I went to lookup what the SCCA offers for RallyCross in our neck of the woods. I stumbled across SCCA Ice Racing: https://www.svr-scca.com/iceruns

First off, I'm just going to see if they'll let me run my stick shift Tacoma just because it would be something fun to do in the winter. It did get me thinking though... The rules say they don't allow convertibles so I probably wouldn't be able to run the Goblin without a full cage. I'm going to look into it though. It could be a fun way to break up the winter. I don't think salt would be a consideration as long as its taken to the track in an enclosed trailer.

The car would need some modifications... and here's what I came up with:
  • General waterproofing
    • Complete flat bottom
    • Better battery protection
    • Replace Corbeau seats with metal Kirkey's
    • Run engine cover and under hood cover
    • Make sure EPS is a little better protected
    • Better protect BCM
  • Remove windshield or add actual electric wiper
  • Snow/Studded tires
  • Raise front and rear suspension (depending on added height from tire choice)
Anyway, thought it could be fun and wanted to share :D
