Matt’s street/track goblin #328 SS/SC

Hey everyone! Long time lurker of the forum, first time poster! The goblin idea came from finding a way to repurpose my partners 06 SS cobalt. It was the first car she had bought on her own and had it since 79k miles (140kish after tearing it down for the goblin). There was some sentimental value there and since it was a former new england car there was some rust and some cosmetic issues, it made the perfect donor rather than selling it. So with her blessing i had myself a donor! I have done a few automotive builds in the past but this one i told myself i would learn patience and take my time and enjoy the process. At the time of posting this i already have stage 1 complete, first start up done, and onto assembling stage 2. I will post some photos below of progress to share with everyone. Looking forward to any advice along the way!

We stopped by DF Kit car while passing through on a road trip. Picked up stage 2 while there and was lucky enough to get a ride along. To anyone thinking about going by their facility, i highly recommend it! What a great group of people. I have left off at the front brakes and suspension. More updates to come as i get working on it.

I think you need to turn your lower upright brackets the other way.

Should be like this.

I would also thread the lower helm joints back in despite the directions to extend them 4 turns. Based on peoples' alignment and not having 1.5 degrees negative camber, you will have to thread out the upper quite a bit to compensate. All of this reduces the thread engagement of the tie rods which is pretty close to the limit. Since it is hard to measure the thread engagement, give yourself the max length by starting the alignment with all helm joints threaded in. I found it also helps to have a set of non-nylock nuts on the bolts as you will be taking them off and on a lot as you fine tune the alignment.

Thank you for the heads up, looks like I’ll have some work to do today to keep me busy on my day off lol.

painted the now rear spindles before I temporarily put the old wheel hubs back in just to attempt to make the goblin a roller. I saved the donor wheels just to get it on the ground. Still deciding what wheels to run. With wanting the rear coil over upgrade and corbeau seats I’ll most likely be going with some jegs wheels for the time being

didn’t have a spring compressor to temporarily install the rear factory struts completely. Just wanted to throw the wheels on and kick back and enjoy this small milestone of all 4 wheels on the car. Now time for a beer!

rear axles in, upgraded billet shifter installed. For the other supercharged builds out there. 1. What is the plumbing routing for the Heat exchanger in the rear. 2. Does anyone have a part number for what driver side radiator hose to use? I believe it was one of the donors but I tossed them as they were not in the best shape and need to get a new one. Just not sure which one. Thanks!

1. stock end plate, or the dual pass end plate?
b. I accidentally tossed mine too, but found replacements that seem to work a bit better than the stock would have.

Here’s a list of all part numbers I used. Some may be helpful snd feel free to add to the list.
