Goblin Guru
I replaced my phone this past weekend because, stupid me, I dropped my old one a few months back and cracked the screen. It was approaching 3 years old anyway, and while it galls me to ever replace a working phone, Xfinity was offering a $300 prepaid card to replace your phone with a new Android device, so the time was nigh. Anyway ... I was moving all my pictures and stuff off the old phone and started browsing through them.
I have to say, I do miss building the Goblin. My wife was incredibly annoyed with me for most of the time the project was live, because she hated seeing "those wrecks" in my side of the garage (referencing my donors there, not the Goblin). Things improved a lot on that front, once "the wrecks" were gone and only a pile of parts, plus the kit, were taking up my side of the garage. It's not terribly easy, dealing with the limited space of a townhouse and a wife who just doesn't get it. She was great though, even though she was constantly irritated by the project, she knew I was doing something NEW, out of my comfort zone, and perhaps basically my midlife crisis project (??). Her support was excellent and stayed strong from start to finish.
In looking back through my old pics, I've come to the realization that, if I could guarantee myself another solid SS/TC donor, I would sell my Goblin and build another one, utilizing what I've learned through the process to make a second, better car. Don't get me wrong, mine is AMAZING to me, but there are some things I would do differently and aspects of the car I would not waste time on, little things, you know.
Anyway, here's a small gallery of pics taken during my build process. A stroll down Memory Lane is fun, for sure ... will I eventually build a second car? Only time will tell...
Feel free to add your own "Memory Lane" post! Let's see those partially-built Goblins!
