Stock Seat Troubles

What is the trick to get the stock seats to mount in? I cannot get the front to slide into place.
I’ve been fighting with this for an hour with nothing doing.

I took a grinder to the front ‘tooth’ on the seat rail. I think this was keeping me from sliding the unit in.

Yes, remove the tooth at the front. Also cut 1/4" off the outsides of the rear bolt hole tabs, and remove or trim back the plastic sides to the seat.

I just completely took off the plastic around the base. It kept getting in the way also.

I guess the moto is: when in doubt, grind it out….

Question: should the carriage bolt poke up through the floor (nut under seat) or poke down (nut under car)?

Poke up. There is a square hole in the DF frame to accomodate the carrage bolt.
Also the carrage bolt head is less likely to hang up on road debris.
