Tire Decision

Me to. Not sure how exact tire to wheel recommendation are for such a low weight/air pressure situation.
I was thinking about that. On the rear, probably not a major concern. On the front, there may not be enough weight to let the tire make decent contact, with the wheel bowing the tire

8.5 seems to be min width.

I picked up a set of 17X8” wheels for cheep. Was going to use them for trailer tires when flat towing. However when talking to my tire guy he said you could put a 255 on them as long as you went with a 45 series and up sidewall. I’ve seen a lot of talk about width but not much on sidewalls. I’d be going from 275/40R18 rear and 255/40R18 front down to a 17” wheel. I’d like to run a 245 /40 up front and a 255/40 out back. Is a 255/45 to tall of a sidewall for Autocross? This might change what I do. I’d go to a 100tw tire on the 17” and keep my 18” for street driving and towing. Thoughts?
I’m hoping to improve traction for Autocross. I’ve read that a narrower tire would heat up quicker which helps with Autocross

I ended up getting a set of 225's for my 8" wheels. Then I got my hands on some 9" wheels and got the 255's on those. The 255 look like they fit perfectly on the 9" wheels.
