V1 Axles

So I bought an incomplete goblin second hand. Do you use stock length axles when you build the kit? I have new axles but they are shorter than the ones that came from the donor. I’m not sure if the axles were sent with the kit or purchased separately as a preventative maintenance thing.

Can you put your donor information in your signature?

Yes we use stock axels. The F23 (base model) manual transmission has different length axels than the F35 (SS) transmission. The F23 has a long and short. The F35 is 3 short pieces with an intermediate shaft

Any part number markings on these axles?

I think the signature is updated now.

part number for the axles is GM-8217

At least eBay thinks GM-8217 fits a 2007 Cobalt SC SS. There is some give in the lengths of the axles. The top joint in used axle in your picture is stretched out more than the new one but I don’t know if that is enough to account for the difference. It’s not that unusual for claims to be made for axle fitting on a lot of this stuff if the length is somewhat close.

Do the spline portions of the shafts match up?

I think the issue just resolved itself. Upon further inspection it looks like the stock axle was not connected inside of the boot making it seem much longer.

the joints/hubs do move in and out. If it’s for the correct cobalt, it’ll be correct.

Stock axles are what you need on the 07 SS S/C.
