new clutch kit installed. i made a big mistake and thankfully caught myself. i forgot to tighten down the 3 slave cylinder bolts and iv already got the trans almost completely wiggled on but not bolted. woops.

unrelated note im up to 20ish mosquitos killed and im absolutely covered in bites ugh

Its all back together, I bled the clutch and I am having issues getting it filled. The bleeder valve is very hard to get to. It'd be nice if I could change it so its easier to get to. It was good enough for a few minutes on the road testing and then eventually the clutch pedal gave up all pressure. I was also looking how to move the oil cooler out of the way to get better access to the bleeder valve. Its currently stuck away from home till tomorrow.

There is a grinding noise coming from the transmission or clutch, no burning smells though. It stopped when I push the clutch in.

got the clutch working again, think its bled correct this time

the transmission goes into every gear and is behaving fine however the grinding noise from the transmission hasnt changed, im going to recheck the fluid level and do a couple flushes, itll be a few days till the fluid arrives im using mt-90 from zzp. ill also be checking the magnet on the transmission drain plug every so often to make sure things are going right. i hope this transmission can last long enough to pay off the cost of getting it. down the line i wouldnt mind doing a different transmission, maybe the 6 speed.

i now have a spare f35 lsd with no reverse laying around, i could try fixing it or selling it.

an oil change is long past due so ill be knocking that out very soon

there is a p0033 code that needs looked at too

after i get everything working good enough to daily it i hope to pay off the cost and then think about other options. if i want to make more power or not and do i want to eventually stick it in my kitcar? if i do id need another car to daily with. maybe another cobalt haha...

Sure the noise is coming from the trans and not a cv or wheel bearing?
the sound stops when the clutch is pressed in, also while doing another test i lost clutch pressure again....

starting to think i maaay have not put something back together right

edit: there is a leak happening of sorts

I got a inspection probe, took off the black cover and inspected the slave cylinder. The pipe inside that goes to the slave cylinder is wet. Maybe I have the fitting that has the bleeder on it on wrong or didn't tighten the connection to the cylinder down enough The clutch could be wet with brake fluid now. I'm going to assume that it won't just simply dry out over time and there would be no need to open up the transmission? I'm probably going to just take it to a shop. I am so tired of this.

I managed to get the probe locked to the viewing port and have a view of it from the drivers seat, when i pressed the clutch i saw a drop of fluid fall from the top fitting. What an awful design. It just snaps on and holds the pressure with some stupid O rings and then a retaining clip? and if you dont put it on just right it will leak? Ugh! Itd be great if the fitting location could be moved farther away and more accessible so that you dont need to remove the fuse box to mess with it. I guess I understand that the bleeder needs to be as far down for gravity as possible but still, awful. Even if this gets fixed I doupt the noise will stop, it could be from getting the clutch wet with brake fluid or its internal. Either way the transmission would have to come out again, which i REALLY dont want to do again. On a good note, it was cool to look at things using the probe.

Oil contamination on the clutch disc will soak into the friction material and 'burn' against the flywheel and pressure plate creating hot spots and chattering (at best) or slipping. Yes, this needs to be addressed before yse if you suspect the clutch components have oil on them

iv moved the car into the garage for a better work enviroment. iv taken the fuse box out and tried reseating the fitting. looking through the view hole with a probe and pressing on the clutch. the fitting is still leaking. i know at this point the trans has to come out for a new clutch disc and clean up all the brake fluid, but its really depressing trying to get the fitting to not leak. zzp has one so maybe i should order a new one? i dont know.

looking over what they have it looks like a good deal so ill go ahead and order the fitting which is called a hydraulic clutch elbow and a f35 clutch pipe. it wont arrive for a few days so itll be good to take a break. whats more fun then dropping a transmission once? doing it twice! maybe even a third time?! with the engine at 175k miles this all may even be pointless! no idea how long the engine will last, it could crap out a day or two after fixing everything haha
