Fx400 failure

First of all this isn’t me bashing clutch masters. I race the car and drive it a fair amount. I’ve had this setup for about a year. Had issues with clutch drag and could hear it catch rolling in gear with the clutch pedal in (engine off). Decided to pull the trans and some metal came out with the pressure plate. They are the arms in the side of the friction material that help hold the dampening springs.

I might look into a southbend stage 4 or an fx500 to try something without springs. I was also recommended trying a twin disk, and although it’s overkill, it could have less rotational mass. Just posting to get everyone’s thoughts on this.

Drag racing? A dual disc is probably a better idea - less rotational mass and smaller diameter, can handle consistent higher RPMs. AutoX and road race? A stage 4 or better, solid disc - if it's not driveren on the street often - organic disc(s) if not 100% race. This is just my opinion, based on numerous credible and industry accepted information sources - and many years of past experience. I'm certain that others will have their own inputs.

First thoughts with the fx500…
Getting in and out of gear is much easier. Not just because duh the other one was broken, but the shifting is a little lighter and doesn’t have as notchy feedback. Bite point is low and and is like a switch but the 400 was the same at first. It chatters less than the 400 currently but the springs catching and releasing might have a “bigger” chatter effect. So far it’s easy and shifts better.
Also glad to see that the material on the 400 looks exactly the same as the 500, so the last year or so of racing and street driving hasn’t worn the material by any drastic means. Clutch pedal is a little lighter but I could have more bleeding to do. But it works and time to get some break in miles.
