I ended up with a ton of ground wire leftover to use for the few wires to extend. I didn’t buy any wire when I did the harness rework.

You know, I was thinking I had a lot of extra wire. The thing that threw me off was that they didnt specifically say to grab from the wires that we set aside. Im still a little torn between buying a $10 spool or digging in the box but I really appreciate the tip. I figured I wouldnt NEED to get more. We shall see. :D

Thank you

Note as you're going through wiring diagrams, if you see a callout for ECM in an '06 LSJ, it's probably wrong. Go back to an '05 LSJ and instead reference the PCM. The few things I've found called out incorrectly as an ECM in '06 LSJ schematics have all been called out correctly in the same diagrams for an '05 LSJ PCM.

I was definitely starting to get worried and confused with some of the call outs that were made. A couple of the wires were different colors. But I decided to push on and address them as I got further through the build. This should come in very handy. Thank you. Im excited to get this harness completed and wrapped up.

Thank you for the advice.

Welcome back to the fun! Congratulations of the addition to the family, always great to hear! :D

The electrical is almost always the big hurdle for everyone to get over. Check 5 times for anything that doesn't seem right, preview ahead to the next several videos (some of the questioned stuff now may have ab answer there) and ask questions. The forum has plenty of experience with wiring issues and we are here to help.

Sure enough, I missed a couple things and now I’m on the hunt for pinout diagrams for the Blue BCM plug and the Red BCM Multi-plug. If anyone has a link or resource for those, I’d really appreciate it! I’ve done a few searches but haven’t quite struck gold yet.

Here are the wiring maps I made for C3/C1. C1 might not be the blue plug you're looking for, but check. I downloaded all the wiring diagrams from here: https://mcdowellpubliclibrary.org/chilton-auto-repair/ The navigation is horrendous, but if you click on everything you'll eventually find all the diagrams. Also, the diagrams have all the trims on them, so make sure you're looking for where it says 'LSJ'.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

These were such a help this weekend. I was able to find and label a hand full of wires that I didnt have before. Way to go creating these!

Now I have the desire to create one of these for each plug, this helped ease so much anxiety around making sure I get the right wires in the right places.

Thank you again so much!

Such great advice. I spent this weekend doing just that. I went back over all the videos I have done so far. Verified everything I had already done, and then went over the next 3 or 4 videos to see where we were headed.

Double, triple, and quadruple check, and then check again. I also learned that I even as much as I labeled, I didn't label enough. :D

Thank you for all the help and support.

Goblin Build Update: Wiring Woes, Progress, and a Lesson Learned

Hey everyone,

It’s been a little while since my last update but that doesn’t mean things haven’t been moving. I’ve been trying to sneak in work on the build whenever I can, even if I don’t always have time to sit down and post about it.

Wiring Harness Progress
Holy. Moly.

This wiring harness is no joke, but it’s finally starting to come together. I’d say I’m most of the way through, and about halfway through the final organization phase. Seeing it go from a chaotic mess of wires to something that actually makes sense has been incredibly satisfying.

I almost made it through the entire harness process without burning myself…
…and then Easter weekend happened.

For reasons I still can’t explain, I grabbed the soldering iron from the wrong end. Instantly regretted that decision.

Lesson learned, again.

Game Changer: The Binder
One of the best things I’ve done recently was put together a binder with all the plugs and pinouts for the harness. That has been a huge help in keeping everything straight and double-checking my work. I've also been keeping a log of the items I purchase in there and any design ideas that I have.

Also, big thanks to those of you who shared links and pictures for the connectors earlier, that saved me more time (and probably more mistakes) than you know. Seriously appreciated.

What’s Next
Next up on the list:

  • Finishing up the clutch pedal connectors
  • Continuing final harness organization
  • Getting everything ready to start actually installing components (which I’m really excited about)
It finally feels like I’m getting close to turning the corner from “prep work” to actually building the car.

Life & Build Balance
Things have still been busy on the home front, and man… what a winter that was. Between the cold and everything else going on, garage time has been hit or miss. Back in December my son got something called Kawasaki Disease, that was not a fun ride. He's fully recovered and no side effects, but dang.

I did take a break and build a guitar as a retirement gift. He retired after 40 years and was/is one of my best friends. Had a bunch of his closest friends in the office sign a book with custom notes to him and then I laser engraved them on the body too. Ill toss in a picture of that as well. haha

Hoping the weather starts cooperating so we can all either:
  • Get out in the garage and make progress
  • Or better yet… actually drive these things
