Ok so I just got my LE5 rebuilt. The timing is right checked twice. The sensors were new right before I removed them to send the head off to get machined. The exhaust sounds like I have a huge cam and a straight pipe at idle… and it’s idling at 800rpm?? Any body have a clue of what could cause this?
Here is a link to a clip of what it’s doing

Is it running on 4 cylinders? Check exhaust port temperatures, see if you have a cold one or two.

Pull the spark plugs in 1 and 2, check that they are getting spark. Check compression while you have them out. Crank the engine with them out, can you smell gas out the spark plug holes?

I’ll check this tomorrow after work, it’s just so loud haha it sounds way louder in person

I wish mine would idle that low! Sounds like you're definitely down a hole. Were you having other issues with your tune before the rebuild?

Nope no issues with tune before the rebuild at all, it just had worn timing chain guides and leaked oil from the crank girdle seal below the intake so that’s why I got it rebuilt

Ok got it fixed sorta lol
Does anyone know how to get this clip back in the connector of the throw out bearing

And also how do I do a crank position sensor relearn that’s a code it’s throwing

Usually the clip goes in first, then the line will snap in. You should be able to put the clip in with the line already in, but you’ll need to push on the line to make sure everything is set correctly.

I did the exact same thing...spent like an hour trying to figure out how to get it in before I just did it the right way out of frustration.
I’m glad someone said something because I spent like 3 hours researching how to get the line through the clip with it in the fitting and no data anywhere. So thank you guys :)

Last thing is a crank position sensor relearn, how do you do it? I have a code saying I need to do a relearn

i haven’t done one on a cobalt yet, but my LS based work trucks, I use the tech2 and follow the instructions. Basically, it has to be over a certain coolant temp, then instructed to roll to full throttle until it hits the rev limiter, then let off and the tech2 does the rest.

Not sure. I haven’t used it that much. Staring at a GM tech2 for over 20 years, I go to it before hp tuners. I only use hp for tuning. Creature of habit. Sorry

hopefully someone else will chime in if it’s doable with hp.
