Back when we started on prototype 1, our plan was to build ourselves a couple of low cost mid-engine cars. My dad and I figured we could throw together some really fun cars by squeezing the important parts of a cheap sedan into a lightweight tube chassis.
While we were building the prototype, we kept a blog on the Grassroots Motorsports forums. As the build progressed, we started getting comments (online and locally) about turning the car into a kit. By the end of the build it was obvious that many people were interested in building their own Goblin, so we decided we'd take a shot at building kits as a side business.
The build log on the Grassroots forums is a really long read, but it is the best way to see how we got from an idea to a final prototype.
